What happened to this California family?

Nah. I wanna be here to make fun of you when it is all done and we know it was because of the heat.

The heat did not kill them. Heat related deaths can be determined in autopsy.

From what I have read, heat as a cause of death can only be determined by ruling out other factors (in a case like this where there are no witnesses). They are still waiting for all of the toxicology results.

This is what Dr. Michael Baden published:

Autopsy
1. Autopsy findings in heat stroke are subtle and include degeneration of neurons in the cerebral cortex, cerebellum and basal ganglia, and scattered petechiae in the walls of the third and fourth ventricles

and the aqueduct. Petechiae also may be found in the thoracic and abdominal viscera. Postmortem decomposition begins early and prog- resses rapidly. Localized application of heat to the skin can result
in bums of varying degrees (see Chapter XV). Death resulting from
cold and exposure is associated with bright red postmortem lividity.
Cutis anserina (goose-flesh) may be present because of rigor of the arrectores pilorum muscles. The onset of decomposition is delayed, t and the process is slowed.

OOOOh look it's Dr. Dcum.

She gonna book learn us.

It doesn't help your case pp. You don't even know what you're posting.

This thread is really shocking... There are so many posters who seem like outright conspiracy theorists incapable of any critical thinking. Family annihilation! Algae! Burning Man drugs!! Boulders!
No one witnessed their deaths. They are eliminating all other possibilities because heat stroke doesn't have a series of characteristic autopsy traits, especially in bodies that have been decomposing for any length of time. What makes people jump to the least likely scenarios when there is a most likely explanation?

Heat stroke deaths do not require postmortem toxicology tests.😱

Maybe the toxicology tests are just to rule out the possibility of anything else causing their deaths. Perhaps nothing will be found in the toxicology testing and they’ll come back around to it being heatstroke.

NP. If heat stroke is a diagnosis of exclusion, then yes, it does require that.

Obviously there's no point in fighting over theories or speculating if you're not helping with the investigation, but why do you lack compassion for this family? They were more than what you describe them as. It's tragic that they died at such a young age. And if there are answers that are released to the public, similar tragedies may be prevented.

Algae was brought up by the Mariposa Police. You can learn about it on their Facebook page, there's a video post.

Prior to the trip, the husband filled their canteens with cyanide. They stopped mid-hike to take the deadly sips; the wife ran away in a panic/throes of death. This is why she was found up the hill from the rest of her family. The man killed the baby and dog, then he sat down and took his own sip...

Who knows why anyone does FA?

Some who do FA include the pets too. It’s sick but their thinking is better we all die together.

I just want to weep reading this. I doubt tbi made Chung cloudy. If this was FA my money is on her. Omg the stuff posted o her IG prior to it being locked was awful. Everyone seemed to love John. No one says a word about the mom.

Sorry I'm just seeing this...
I'm not asking for specifics, but what do you mean it was awful? 😳

NP

There was nothing awful in her IG prior to it being locked. It was the same as thousands of other IG accounts. She had photos of her dog, her family, outings with friends, trips they took. I don’t know what the PP means about it being awful.

+1. Some of the posters on this thread…wow. Like, oh, they went to Burning Man? Then they are, without question, drug-addicted sex maniacs with morbid depression who definitely would murder their spouse, baby, and dog before committing suicide. But first they went on an 8 mile hike so as not to arouse suspicion!

+1 I looked at her whole Instagram and it was like anyone else on here who leads a UMC life. Family, friends, travel. And I didn’t see any pictures of her nude or topless or even a party lifestyle. Also still waiting to hear from PP’s who allude to her brother’s Instagram and her exBF who allegedly said ā€œI used to hit that.ā€ Is it sexist or what that people are so focused on her, including the way she dressed at a festival, and never commenting on Jon? She graduated from Berkeley and worked in tech for a long time. Yet people keep commenting on her rich husband or rich ex as if she had no accomplishments of her own. Why aren’t people commenting on the way Jon dressed at festivals? I’ve seen pictures of people at festivals (not even Burning Man per se) and everyone dresses very scantily.

I was the one (above) who asked for clarification in regards to what the pp thought was so awful about her Instagram.

I don't know... I keep getting this icky kinda "Yoko Ono" vibe, when it comes to everyone villainizing Ellen (nothing related to the Asian component though).

Yoko Ono was villainized.
Yes, she was a strong & confident woman, yet she was also jarring & polarizing to many people.
She clearly had a compelling voice & major influence with John Lennon (as all wives should).

Ultimately though, it was his decision to leave The Beatles, yet she always was and is still now inherently blamed for the break-up.

From reading these posts, I keep getting the same blamey feeling towards Ellen... is it that people just need SOMEONE to blame?

Am I the only one feeling this way?

We have so little information about them that it is ridiculous that the mom would be considered a polarizing figure. What we do have is lots of sexism, misogyny, and racism and that is certainly making an appearance here. The comments about burning man and people trying to paint her a certain way because of that are straight from 1950.

I wasn't saying that Ellen was polarizing, I was saying that I was getting the same icky vilification of Ellen as I felt about Yoko Ono, but I couldn't put my finger on WHY people would automatically jump to doing this.

Your sexism, misogyny, racism theory makes a lot of sense though... how sad.

I think it is because FA has been often discussed as a viable and potentially even likely cause, the mom may appear to be a more likely suspect given her documented mental health issues and the fact that murder of children up to around 1 year of age is more typically done by women. I'm not saying that is what happened here, but it's pretty easy to see why people are more suspicious of her given the limited information that is available. It's also entirely possible that the father had mental health issues too; but if so, that information was not publicly available, unlike in the case of the mother.

Thanks. Interesting. I still think the woman/Ellen/mom tainted the beverages, that’s where my theory differs from yours.
Of course we’ve all researched and found different info helping us formulate our opinion.

But it upsets the crazy conspiracy theorists. They've watched enough crime shows that they are fing certified detectives on the case. We can't deny them their DRAMA.

. I’ve never watched a crime drama in my life. My opinion would be the same based on the info I’ve found, even without any pictures of the family.
