First of all, the actress playing Shiv has always had hips and a round butt. There was quite a bit of talk about it during the first season, even. And she hasn’t gained that much weight, it’s just all concentrated in her hips. IRL, she’s probably quite normal, it’s just we’re used to scarecrow thin women on tv, and the camera does add pounds. Rich wives tend to be thin, but Shiv isn’t a “wife of,” she’s got her own power.

Finally, she’s wearing clothes that are quite form-fitting, so I don’t think the costumers are trying to hide her shape. To the contrary — I think they’re emphasizing the fact that Shiv feels very confident, perhaps even over-confident, which is one of the main flaws in the character. She was a good political PR person, but always overestimates her ability in the business world.

This. In my experience, wealthy working women's bodies tend to come in all shapes and sizes.

PP here - and I think this is where I am with it. And this family is so incredibly nasty to each other that ignoring her weight gain seems inauthentic.

I haven't read it yet, but there's been plenty of mentions of his "method." Brian Cox was interviewed recently. I thought it was NPR, but I can't find it, and it was clear he had zero patience for Jeremy Strong. Kieran Culkin was on Fresh Air Today and made a reference to Strong that would have been a throwaway if it hadn't been discussed elsewhere.

All that said, Kendall kind of resonates for me. Maybe it was the fact that he had a seemingly nice wife and kids before his addiction and he actually cared about them. And he was trying to come back from addiction. He took the company seriously and thought he was really going to be running it until his father pulled the rug out from under him. And while Kendall got off scot free from the law for driving drunk and killing the waiter, he's not really free of it. I honestly don't think Shiv or Roman would have made any bones about guilt. There would have been an excuse and then they would have moved on.

Of the siblings he's the most relatable.

Because Shiv seems to think that a pregnancy/baby will give her power, but I think it's the opposite. I don't think I am the only woman that would say they experienced a notable difference in how they were perceived as a woman/human while they were pregnant or had an infant. I think Roman will use her pregnancy to undermine her and Logan will do the same, even if it's not conscious.

I think the clothes they put Shiv in are just not very flattering. The manly cut pant suits, tight tops and high waisted pants etc. She is shaped like a pear. This season, the siblings seem even more nasty than previous seasons. Its relentless and no longer witty or all that interesting. They are just so effed up and cruel and nothing redeems them.
Kendall is clearly bipolar and self medicating. Roman is a "sicko" like Logan asked him. Shiv only wants a baby because her mom said it was good that Shiv "chose" not to have kids.
