Or, they got an email telling them to check out what this nut job posted. |
So you are surprised that folks responded to an unfair and inaccurate post where they called out specific parents/kids but in turn remained anonymous? How would you feel if you were on the receiving end of that? Would you and your fellow team parents remain silent? There are parents from many different teams on this forum but it only takes one bad egg to start a fire. |
Those were some rapid response times, imo. Those phones must have been buzzing last night. |
The long post named people from both MadLax and BLC, so yes, now we know that parents from those two teams are on the board. Those are two of the top teams in the DMV region so of course their families are the most invested and read boards like this. Not exactly newsworthy. |
Well, we know that this came from a disgruntled or nut job BLC parent. Nobody outside the team would know this sort of detail. I bet that BLC parents can guess who it is and will text him/her privately to cool it. |
Every team has a certain number of new players each fall. But what brought this thread back to life was the interesting/dubious statement that DCE will be substantially better than an already good BLC team. That would only happen if there were multiple new players who are better than the current starters. where are these new players coming from? |
Why do you care? If your kid is on the team then you already know who is on the roster. If he is not then it’s not really your concern is it? |
|
This is all essentially accurate--between 5-10 players, many/most of whom had been on the team since 3rd grade, were cut from BLC Blue for new players, many of whom were recruited by parents of other players on the team. No idea where the new players came from but would assume they aren't from the NL/Madlax/VLC close-in competitors but moreso from outside of Montgomery County.
Take it as you will...this is Maryland club lax and players can be added/dropped at any time. Will def make for some awkward convos when these parents run into each other around the neighborhood, however. We'll see how all this plays out in the spring in Hoco. Personally I think DCE 2026 will finish 3rd or 4th in Elite, which is where they've finished the past four years or so. |
Isn't this what the controversial post from last night was sort of saying. Parents running the show (i.e. recruiting players) not the coach? Hence the tryouts are a sham -- the already know who they want via the key parents bringing in the talent not the coach. This never happens at the Hawks -- the coaches are very active in scouting new talent. |
| This has been super fun to read. Hard to believe the DCE coach (who has a classy rep) would be beholden to the dads of lefty attack and goalie. |
Thanks Lumber Boy. |
I doubt the coach cares, he saw better players and picked them up, which is his job. The real question is what level of sociopathy do you have to have as a parent to actively recruit replacements for multiple kids on the team when they've been teammates with your kid for over five years, many of them attend the same school as your kid, and you'll definitely see those parents and kids again at various church/social events? Again, your choice, but burning bridges with people over youth lacrosse for the greater glory of your kid versus maintaining relationships with actual human beings seems pretty unhinged. And go ahead and fire away, I'm a snowflake, my kid needs to hit the wall, etc etc. |
His rep is declining based on his association with this team. |
Roster is out. Not a single new kid was recruited by an existing parent. Go suck an egg. |
Btw, now we all know the Hawks dad who started all this. Same one who is always posting on all the forums. Same one who is always talking to opposing players from the sidelines. Same one who wanted to start a fight at the World Series banquet. Same one who needs to get a life. |
