I’m a parent. No one wants to be in your judgmental house. Stop being such a crappy person during this crappy pandemic. You are not helping. |
And those who cannot teach, criticize. |
Amen, sister. (a parent) |
I appreciate teachers just not the ones at APS who would rather travel and airbnb and teach from a far then go back in. |
Yes, because that happens often. ![]() Grow TF up and stop attacking teachers. |
Parents just want someone to blame. COVID is to blame.
Teachers have had no power to determine when school resumed. None. We have been told when to report and we are doing it. Full stop. |
STOP.. it's been almost a year of remote teaching. This statement about having no power holds no truth. Otherwise, schools would have opened for in-person learning last fall. |
You’re very confused and that’s unfortunate. It was a thing called a pandemic that kept your kids out of school. It’s still going on too. |
DP. Other states and districts were able to open last fall. The governor said schools can open. Private schools have been open. Teacher resistance/ lack of staffing is why NOVA schools could not even open for hybrid learning. |
Blah blah blah. No. You’re still confused. |
Not in APS. If that was the case teachers wouldn't be returning now. If you ask me if I still have concerns, yes I do. But that doesn't mean I'm quitting my job. There is no union in APS that has bargaining rights or that even has over 50% membership among staff. I don't get how you think teachers were holding this thing up. Duran doesn't ask us for our opinions. We literally get the staff version of his schooltalk announcements about 20 minutes before the parent version goes out. That's how we find out return dates etc. |
I would say parents and staff actively working to APS virtual are to blame. COVID is not to blame - if it was than how come so many public schools around the country and private schools right here have been open successfully? |
Avarice. That’s why. Get honest. You know privates are for profit. |
I blame APS's piss poor planning and foresight for this. However the numbers here were high. APS wasn't wrong or the only one to remain virtual. Yes, people in Georgia and Kentucky returned sooner. That doesn't mean they should have when their numbers were higher than ours or that we were in the wrong because we didn't. COVID is a rapidly changing environment because we have been learning as we go. Remember last year when we were wiping down cereal boxes with clorox wipes? Now we know that isn't needed. We have learned and now have a vaccine.
But also all the other districts are pretty much still virtual too. Our cousins who have kids in MCPS (Potomac) upper elementary aren't returning until after spring break. My APS kid is returning next week. Same number of days. FCPS also returning on about the same schedule. APS isn't some sort of outlier in this area. |
