Parents just want someone to blame. COVID is to blame. Teachers have had no power to determine when school resumed. None. We have been told when to report and we are doing it. Full stop.
STOP.. it's been almost a year of remote teaching. This statement about having no power holds no truth. Otherwise, schools would have opened for in-person learning last fall.
You’re very confused and that’s unfortunate. It was a thing called a pandemic that kept your kids out of school. It’s still going on too.
DP. Other states and districts were able to open last fall. The governor said schools can open. Private schools have been open. Teacher resistance/ lack of staffing is why NOVA schools could not even open for hybrid learning.
Not in APS. If that was the case teachers wouldn't be returning now. If you ask me if I still have concerns, yes I do. But that doesn't mean I'm quitting my job. There is no union in APS that has bargaining rights or that even has over 50% membership among staff. I don't get how you think teachers were holding this thing up. Duran doesn't ask us for our opinions. We literally get the staff version of his schooltalk announcements about 20 minutes before the parent version goes out. That's how we find out return dates etc.
