Blonde, Blue-Eyed White Women

Agree it is astonishing. I am dark hair and very blue eyes. Since turning 50 I’ve gone blonde to hide gray hair. I can’t believe how much attention I get now, particularly from men

There may be a difference, but let me tell you, as a lifelong natural blonde with blue eyes that is not wanted attention a lot of the time. As a young woman who traveled the world alone it felt like an extra target for harassment or worse. Also some of that "attention" you get gets damned uncomfortable if you're not into White Supremacist racists or people who hate their race and are looking to "whiten the line" or who assume you are a slut because of how you look. This by no means compares to actual racism, but there are lessons I would give to women who look like this that might not be immediately apparent because of privilege overall. Over 50 this is not an issue.

Taylor Swift, Reese Witherspoon, January Jones, Britney Spears, Jessica Simpson, Kristen Dunst, Charlize Theron, Amanda Seyfried, Meg Ryan, Sienna Miller, Amber Heard, Michelle Pfeiffer,, Christie Brinkley

vs

Catherine Zeta Jones, Angelina Jolie, Monica Bellucci, Cindy Crawford, Natalie Portman, Megan Fox, Keira Knightley, Christy Turlington, Liz Hurley, Kate Beckinsale, Rachel Weisz

And I deliberately left out some of the most stunning women in the world like Salma Hayek, Penelope Cruz, Zoe Kravitz, Jennifer Lopez, Jessica Alba, Freida Pinto, Adriana Lima, Halle Berry, Lupita, Zoe Saldana, Priyanka Chopra, Liya Kebede, Ciara, and on and on and on.

I mean it's almost unfair how much less attractive blondes are as a whole.

Charlize Theron, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Christie Brinkley are absolutely stunning. You’re on crack.

I never said they weren’t stunning. They are.
But for every beautiful blonde, there are a hundred beautiful women who aren’t.

Meghan Fox, Jennifer Connelly, Penelope Cruz, Salma Hayek, Cindy Crawford, Elizabeth Taylor (in her youth often recognized as the most beautiful woman in the world), Ava Gardner, etc.

Agree! I’m also a 50 year old of Mediterranean descent and have noticed the same. I get compliments all the time (and it’s usually from 40-50ish blonde blued-eyed women). They ask for skin care advice but it’s mostly just genes doing the work.

Yep. I also have blue eyes with the benefit of Mediterranean skin that doesn’t crack. I’m thick dark haired with only 3-4 gray hairs as well.

At 52, I’m constantly asked what I use on my skin. No wrinkles and no crepe at knees.

Lmao

Pretty sure it’s ok for everyone to have different preferences

But it really depends who you ask. On DCUM, Gwyneth Paltrow’s look is considered ideal. I’ve never spoken to anyone in real life who thinks she’s even above average looking.

I’m not a fan of hers but I’m lol at asking ppl in real life what they think of her looks (who does that?), or thinking she’s just average looking. I mean, do you speak only to super-attractive ppl all day every day?

Most blondes aren’t real blondes. They are bottled.

And that is because of blonde envy. And that is because blondes have more fun. QED.

This look has gotten me occasionally stereotyped as unfriendly by women who later tell me I'm so different than they imagined. Also very much targeted by men in Spain and Latin America for catcalling and unwelcome propositions. That is about it.

Not that there aren’t still plenty of beautiful blonde women who get fawned over, but beauty standards have evolved to be more inclusive. I agree that there’s a blonde female WASP stereotype that’s still floating around out there though. I’m blonde and blue eyed and I’m sure I’m stereotyped but I don’t really care that much.

I agree. Watch a Nike commercial... not one white blonde male or female !! NONE

I think when one is older it's because blonde hides the gray better.

When you think of a cheerleader or a sorority girl, what features and hair color come to mind?

Not true in northern and north-eastern Europe. Most people don't have brown hair in that region. Black hair is even harder to find unless a tourist.
Arriving back here after not seeing true black hair for awhile, a friend's black hair looked like it has been colored black.

I understand blonde envy and that compared to darker hair colors it makes you generally look younger, however I think that formula doesn't work past middle age, where the lighter you go the more washed out you tend to look.
Although I guess it's hard to stop once you are used to yourself always having blonde hair (bottled or otherwise).
