Umm no - politicians IN OFFICE are usually crucified and at the very least forced out. The guy not only kept his job but is getting away with literal murder.

Black and brown politicians get 10 years for stealing campaign funds, but the white politician with a literal body six feet under is not only scott-free but is also still overseeing all legal matters and prosecution for his entire state.

Do you really doubt that if this same white guy was caught stealing campaign funds he would not be in prison as well? I think this is a BS miscarriage of justice but there is more than JUST racism when there is political corruption and rich people getting away with murder.

No but I’ve never seen a black or brown politician walk away from a murder charge, let alone do it and keep their job.

Ravnsborg will not need to be present during Thursday’s court hearing to submit the plea deal. Additionally, the gag order will be lifted following the deal.

I hope the deceased sues this man and the State of South Dakota into oblivion. This man cannot prosecute the law when he is incapable of following the law or even being a decent human.

The widow is suing him in civil court but that's nothing. How is this even legal?

Jason R. Ravnsborg, the South Dakota attorney general who struck and killed a man while driving home from a Republican Party dinner last year, will plead no contest on Thursday to two misdemeanor charges he faces in connection with the case, his lawyer said on Wednesday.

The plea deal will allow Mr. Ravnsborg to avoid a trial that had been scheduled for Thursday, and the third charge against him will be dropped, said the lawyer, Tim Rensch.

The state’s attorney, Michael Moore of Beadle County, confirmed on Wednesday that Mr. Ravnsborg would enter a plea but said he could not give further details because of a gag order imposed by a judge in February.

Mr. Ravnsborg, a Republican, was charged with careless driving, using a mobile electronic device and failing to stay in his lane on the night of the crash that killed Joseph Boever, a 55-year-old pedestrian, on Sept. 12. Each of those charges, which are all misdemeanors, carries a penalty of up to 30 days in jail and a $500 fine.



Mr. Rensch said that the careless driving charge would be dropped.

The case has cast a long shadow over state politics in South Dakota. Officials from both sides of the aisle, including Kristi Noem, the Republican governor, have called on Mr. Ravnsborg to resign.

A spokesman said on Wednesday that Mr. Ravnsborg did not intend to resign.

Again, I wish the feds would step in regarding his blasphemous “sentence.” Absolutely unreal that he got off for that and this speeding ticket is just more evidence that this douche thinks he’s above the law.

I'm more curious about the ability to recall a Attorney General who is a murderer in all but conviction.

Does it take a statewide recall poll? Maybe it should be allowed if the Governor and 60% of the Legislature agrees.
