The issue is that 25% of the incoming freshman class is coming from a single prep company that multiple current students have said publically on the internet that the owner helped them to cheat on the TJ admissions test.

It doesn't matter the race of the company's owner. This should be investigated and STOPPED.

Defund AAP.

So sad. If we cannot get into AAP, let's come together to destroy the program.

It was probably said in the same vein as "Defund Police" - i.e, scale back and refocus.

No one who is being honest doesn't acknowledge that AAP in FCPS in its current form is a bloated system that promotes segregation by both race and income. And TJ has all the foibles of AAP writ large.

The defund AAP/TJ person is not serious. Its just a copy and paste by rote to stir the pot

It never ceases to amaze me how little people understand the concept of "caring about other people" and "believing in causes that don't affect you".

what about caring about the AAP kids?

I do care about the AAP kids. And research continually proves that they would be better served from an academic perspective in an environment that contains legitimate diversity.

It would be 90% without the racial discrimination against Asian American applicants.

And how much would it be without prepping?

90%. Most asians are forced into studying because they are held to a different (higher) standards than all the other groups.

The School Board has heard testimony from parents of FARMS-eligible students expressing regret they can't afford the extras for their kids that would make them more attractive TJ candidates.

But please keep ignoring their voices and pretending that 2.0% FARMS TJ is full of low-income families too proud and self-reliant to accept assistance. The rest of us know better.

When did FCPS become the let’s educate all the FARMS and ESOL to the detriment of everyone else? I pay my god damn taxes to educate my kids and all FCPS wants to do is focus on those that don’t pay in as much at all. I have no problem with more diversity in AAP or TJ but only if standards aren’t dumbed down to make it happen.

What's the point? To proclaim that Asians are smarter and that American school systems should set up magnet schools to cater to them? Racist much?

If you dug into the PISA 2018 data, you'd find that the FCPS average (vs. the United States average) was 527, higher than Japan, South Korea and Taiwan.

We don't need a segregated semi-private academy.

AAP kids need to be in class with their educational peers.

No, to prove that not all Asians are cheating in order to get in TJ.

LOL yes China is totally number one when they get to pick their test participants. This is nonsense.

Isn't fcps's pisa scores significantly boosted by TJ scores?
