The issue is that 25% of the incoming freshman class is coming from a single prep company that multiple current students have said publically on the internet that the owner helped them to cheat on the TJ admissions test.

It doesn't matter the race of the company's owner. This should be investigated and STOPPED.

Defund AAP.

Why defund AAP? If your kid are NOT in AAP, why are you in this forum for AAP? Thank you!

The "preserve the status quo" at TJ group is also viciously attacking elected officials and the superintendent of FCPS.

So sad. If we cannot get into AAP, let's come together to destroy the program.

It was probably said in the same vein as "Defund Police" - i.e, scale back and refocus.

No one who is being honest doesn't acknowledge that AAP in FCPS in its current form is a bloated system that promotes segregation by both race and income. And TJ has all the foibles of AAP writ large.

It does not take away the fact that people who do not make it into AAP don't like the program. It also does not take away the fact that there are gifted kids in AAP.

Let's set the record straight. Parents of underprivileged children are NOT in this forum! They are NOT the ones who said to get rid of AAP and TJ. You know who you are and be honest.

twitter and this site constantly amaze me. I can't believe a sitting senator is getting away with saying stuff like that.

then don't vote form him. That probably won't help because he's actually very popular in his district and his views align with his constituents, but go ahead and try to unseat him

It's 2020, it's time for more diversity at TJ.

The School Board has heard testimony from parents of FARMS-eligible students expressing regret they can't afford the extras for their kids that would make them more attractive TJ candidates.

But please keep ignoring their voices and pretending that 2.0% FARMS TJ is full of low-income families too proud and self-reliant to accept assistance. The rest of us know better.

Did they also testify that they want to get rid of TJ because they can't afford to send their kids to prep schools? If not, what is the point of your post?

It never ceases to amaze me how little people understand the concept of "caring about other people" and "believing in causes that don't affect you".
