I don't think Fred is as important as we've been led to believe. Both Commander McKenzie and Commander Half-arm (Naomi's husband) have much bigger houses. It also makes sense that in a new country that you're barely holding together you would spread out your leadership.

The latest episode was pretty boring, IMO. The one exception was the scene where Mrs. Commander Stabler takes Serena into a house that hasn't been restored. I was a little sick to my stomach to see all the kid's stuff, the half-drunk glasses of wine on the table, the baby's nursery with her name on the wall. Reminiscent of the Boston Globe, but still chilling and sad. And the flippant way the Commanders wife said, "I think they were Baptists." Which was weird.

It seems they are also setting up a wives version of Jezebel's, which, groan.

I like the Canada stuff, but I really wish they'd be more specific in what exactly is going on. There's just a lot that doesn't make sense there.

This line didn't make much sense to me, either. Baptists would have been more likely to create or go along with Gilead than almost any other Protestants. It's such a small but glaring detail to get wrong. The scene overall was pretty chilling, though, especially seeing that dusty copy of The Washington Post on the table. That was a detail that really worked, as it brought back the two most horrific episodes of the series.

I almost wondered if that stroll through the house was going to give Serena second thoughts about back all in on Gilead. The look on her face made me think she might still have a conscience in there, somewhere.

I think it’ll be interesting if turns out Phoebe (name on the nursery wall, right?) is one of their “adopted” children.

Ugh, just watched this week’s episode. I’m not sure what they’re trying to accomplish by killing everyone but June. It’s just annoying that they suspend their reality for June but no one else.

I feel like the mouths stapled shut was a jump the shark moment. Everything seems aimed to shock now, and not to advance storyline. Even having S change her mind and want N back feels like a plot undo.

I agree with you, pp.

The show really made headlines after season 1 with that Emmy win. Last year they didn’t get close, so they’re doubling down on gore??

Yeah, this season is really disappointing. I can’t get over the logistics of the mouth rings.

I was disappointed to see Aunt Lydia so enthusiastically leading the executions. I thought she showed signs of a change of heart during the DC episode, but she seems back to her old self now that she’s home.

I’m sick of these people like Serena and A Lydia (and Nick??) revealing a conscience only to turn around and fully embrace Gilead again.

Who will join June’s army? Where are the bomb making and IT specialist Marthas we were teased with? We don’t have many episodes left.

I agree. Especially since everyone knows that June was behind the "kidnapping" of Nicole, if they knew of a plot involving Hannah, they'd kill June, not just the Martha.

Agree the plot is really disappointing. I'm worried they are going to end the season by hinting/stating that Emily will be returned to Gilead for the "crimes" she committed.

Okay, so it season three worth signing back up for Hulu?

Not so far.

I can’t get into it. Between think June is a dumbass for not getting in that bus- to being turned off by the violence last season, I’m just over it.

Last week's episode has me very turned off from this season. I hope they redeem themselves this week.

I think they've written themselves into a corner. Although there was some interest in learning about the Martha network, the new eccentric commander's household, and Emily's recovery, I just can't see where they can go from here. Especially since, as PPs have said, June's constant escapes from punishment or death have become ridiculous.
