This Hispanic parent would have zero problems sending my kids to Churchill.

Where I wouldn't send them is anywhere in SE DC.

You need to keep things in context.

Maybe the problem is the victim culture

Churchill students have made comments to hispanic students such as "be prepared to be deported". Hispanics are regularly called Mexicans regardless of their heritage. There's a general disrespect of many minority groups at Churchill.

We can live with all that, we are strong.

What is much more difficult to live with is with physical violence and bullying.

The continuous acts of verbal disrespect equates to bullying. Unaddressed bullying leads to violence. Kids can only be pushed so far till they react as a means of protecting themselves. That's why it's important for principals to have proactive plans to address and eliminate bullying in schools.

Most cases of mass shootings in schools have their roots connected to a child that was bullied.

Kids can also internalize their pain and commit suicide because of bullying.

This school is in dire need of greater diversity to help promote empathy and undersanding.

Asian Americans in this area often direct racist comments at other groups, including whites. You might want to wash that glass house before you start tossing stones.

Since when did racist shit said by assholes become worse than old fashioned mean shit said by assholes? Systemic racism is a problem but individual shit is just shit and your shit isn’t any worse than the next person’s shit. People say what ever they know gets under the other people’s skin. Some are just really easy to do

Since when did MCPS stop enforcement of expectations of how students and staff are supposed to act in a public school? There's a code of conduct that is supposed to eliminate hate speech and acts within a school building because of how it creates barriers to educational opportunities.

Sure, we have that in Virginia too and see who we still have in the Governor Mansion.

It needs to start at Hoover/Cabin John. The same stuff is happening there. And it needs to be headed off when kids are younger.

I never stated that Asian Americans don't make racists comments. My point was that the ^PP thinks that calling out racist taunts means you are playing the victim card. What racist words were used against you as a white person to your face?

When it's systemic.

This is why diversifying these schools is so critical.

Oh? So if you compare grades of students from Hoover/Cabin John to some other more "diverse" schools, would that lead to an argument: "this is why segregating these schools is so critical"?
