I am not a trump fan.. but I am a Veteran. I do understand what he is trying to say. Realistically, the president needs someone to speak for him.. he is just not articulate at all. Poor interpersonal and vocabulary skills. |
Would be par for the course with Trumpkins, after the treatment Dear Leader meted out to the Khan family. |
Oh I would, absolutely I would. He's incapable of truly caring about anyone other than himself. I absolutely do not believe he cares about those dead soldiers, especially La David Johnson, whose name he couldn't bother to remember when he called his wife. |
Sarah Sanders just admitted Trump’s ‘proof’ doesn’t exist
Gen Kelly must be hating his decision to join this clown car. |
Not that class exists for this WH, but why, instead of defending the remarks, not just say that the POTUS deeply regrets if any of his remarks offended the grieving family. He is very grateful for their courageous service, and he honors every American who gives their life serving this country. Sanders could have read it from the podium, so there's not even any possibility of Trump messing it up. Instead, she doubles down and calls a grieving mother a liar...good grief!! |
CNN had an interview with Whitney Hunter widow of Army Sgt. Jonathan Hunter who tragically died in August. She repeatedly said that she did not want to criticize the President but she did tell CNN that she was told to stay by her phone for several days because the President would call her with his condolences but he never called. She said that although she had not expected the call in the first place, being told it would happen and for it to then not happen made her feel like her husband's life had been taken for granted.
I wish I could say this, the $25,000 fake offer to another family and the insensitive call to Sgt. La David Johnson's widow where he did not even say his name surprises me but it does not. I think he should either have a script or have one of his staff write a personal letter of condolence from now on. These Gold Star families have been through enough they do not deserve to become a political football |
This WH coms staff is really incompetent. |
You forgot the part about knowing the cost of his decisions. Phone calls to widows of soldiers are meant to covey that. The message he’s sent to the troops and their families: I guess you know what you signed up for. More death is coming. He just figured out a way to avoid making those calls. Oh, and being accountable for his reckless decisions. Because you know more of that’s coming, too. |
I don't believe Kelly thought the comments were completely appropriate or respectful unless he says it personally on the record. Sanders could say whatever she wants, but I don't believe her one bit. She's a mouthpiece for a known liar. |
+1 I think there's ample evidence that a call from this President is not always helpful. |
Disagree. It's to Trump's advantage to have everyone fighting about what he said on a phone call and whether or not it was appropriate. It provides a distraction. |
I guess so, but it's true that most of his staff is incompetent. Leon Panetta was pointing out that it shouldn't take 12 days for the President to get confirmed info on who died overseas so he can make a phone call to the family... |
Sure thing, 17 dimensional chess. The man who can't remember to sign an executive order, who can't string three coherent words together, who is having daily temper tantrums and can't accomplish a thing, is being super strategic in this one instance. Or, Occam's Razor: they are totally incompetent. |
Well, somehow Trump won the election with his incompetent team, so there's that. |
Thanks to 100,000 voters in 3 key states, with help from the Russians. And he still lost the popular vote by a good 3 million. |
