According to the public arrest record, the 16yo juvenile lived in the Wootton district (I won't name the street), but also had a DC address. Probably a dual custody situation. But no COSA needed for this student.

i.e.- they were fighting over a girl, someone was being bullied, etc..

The (unverified) rumor is that two kids (including the victim) somehow picked a fight with the shooter in the hallway. The shooter left (left the hallway, not necessarily the school) and returned with a gun.

parents of AP students have such main character syndrome.

I was in high school during 9/11. We didn't cover any AP material that day or the day after. I am guessing that a lot of students will either not attend or be available for learning

Some kids (e.g. my 11th grade daughter at Wootton) feel that they want some sense of normalcy and to be near their friends, their community at a time like this. She did not want to sit at home all day and just go over this in her mind over and over.

We thought the whole country was getting attacked.

Kids sometimes need to talk trauma out with their friends. School is going to open but the day will not be for instruction.

It looks like they recovered a plastic ghost gun. Metal detectors wouldn’t have even been any use.

And, what about the ones not ready to go back. Your kid may be but others not.

West said Wootton’s assigned Community Engagement Officer was not at the high school at the time of the shooting and was “attending to an issue” at Lakewood Elementary School

SRO's are worthless absolutely worthless.

Oh please this was a one on one threat.

These kids have more threats from Trump than they do from their classmates send your kids to school.

That's strange. We had class during the attacks and the next day. I was a little surprised by the former, but not the latter.

I don't get why you'd cancel school over an incident like this. This wasn't an attack on the school as a whole- it was an attack on specific kids in the school.
