It’s sorority video season

Explain to me why would I leave my parents home and move away to college only to rush a sorority with more rules and dues than I got at home???

This video is cringe. Calling them "CONTOURED SHEEP" is savage but truee!!

Half the students are from out of state, with a large number from Maryland, New Jersey, Connecticut, and other blue states. I'm not sure why people are associating sororities and these videos with MAGA. Because they are pretty? Wearing jeans? Most Democrats do not have purple hair and nose rings. Also, plenty of people are conservative/Republican but not MAGA.

Again certain maga are using the video to push their BS even if the girls did not intend it.

Agree. Would like to see some black girls in these videos. Bama seems pretty segregated. Totally different issue but point well taken.

Guess there are no Black girls at Bama?

There are a few Black girls in sororities in Alabama, most aren’t just aren’t all that interested.

But if you are white and you don’t have black people join your group, you are racists even if you’d be totally open to having them join. You have to bend over backwards to recruit them to be part of your group n. Double standard.

This is a misconception. There are NonBlack students at HBCUs. The only thing that makes an HBCU an HBCU is that it was opened pre desegregation. Black Sororities and Fraternities also occasionally have members of other races and also were all created prior to desegregation. Black Greek organizations are different in the fact that they don’t really recruit, and their rush process is private and you have to approach the members if you want to join.

Too smart for this nonsense, maybe? I doubt that's all it is though.

There is zero diversity in that group.

This discussion is why students in the Northeast are leaving in droves for southern schools.

Wash off all the make-up and fake tan and body/face contour off and who are they underneath? Where's the authentic?

Tiktok culture is a race to the bottom. I feel bad for our kids who fall into it. No originality. Just a bunch of contoured sheep mimicking celebrity and influencer trends on repeat.

Good for them if that’s what they want. There are still a whole lot of NE schools with single digit admission rates.

Except they are not. The total number of NE kids at all the SEC kids isn’t more than 15k and it averages about 5% of their student body.

At the same time, kids from the south make up around 15% of the student body of selective northeast schools and 20% of Chicago.

Also, applications to places like UConn, Pitt, UMass, UMD exceed most southern schools by a decent margin and have seen 35% - 50% growth over the last three years.

You may have discerned this is not the most data-driven group of posters, but thank you for the effort.

PP doesn't know anything about the history of black colleges and why they exist in the first place. And doesn't understand that an all-white sorority, not having a single Black member (at a school with 11% Black students), might invite concerns about race-based gatekeeping.
