1. The number of Northeastern students going to Southern colleges has nearly doubled in the last 20 years.
2. Southern R1s are more selective than ever.
3. Northern R1s are juking their acceptance rates and enrollment with foreign students.

So why are schools like UConn, UMass, NYU, BU, BC, every Ivy, Pitt, Penn State, UMD et al more popular than ever. Are all the southerners heading North?

Every large college is receiving more apps than ever because the borders are wide open, anyone in the world can apply, and small and mid-sized colleges are all dying.

Bottom line is y'all really can't cope with the fact that the South is booming and smart northern / mid-Atlantic / west coast teens are seeking out the traditional Southern conservative ethos. Because TikTok and other social media is making these colleges look amazing compared to the cold, bad weather, parkas, and far left miserable ethos they see on the same social media at New England and other northern universities.

The linked video is from Arizona State - not a southern school.

Whether sorority girls dancing is amazing or appalling to you is not a North-South thing. You will find this in the midwest, the south, the mountain west, the southwest, the west coast.

And look, outside the Ivies and the Boston schools, New England is incredibly unappealing for most young people today. And the fuddy-duddies saying they would never, my word, how crass, shall clutch the pearls, is a big reason why New England is not a desirable place to go college. New England is far, far more socially conservative than any other part of the country. Some little vid of sorority girls doing a thing in Arizona should not be a thing. But the northeast people clearly have issues with it. Just... go milk the cows and tighten the bonnet.

I don’t think you understand the meaning of socially conservative . Actually I know you don’t. This from wiki explains in simple terms

-“ Social conservatives organize in favor of duty, traditional values, and social institutions, such as traditional family structures, gender roles, sexual relations, national patriotism, and religious traditions.”

And you know nothing if you think this describes New England. These are some typical social conservative qualities.

1. Duty and traditional values is what Republicans always claim and there are very few if any Republicans sent to congress from New England.

2. Massachusetts was the first to recognize gay marriage. Southern states were forced, kicking and screaming into recognizing gay rights.

3. Same sex adoption is legal in the US but some states received religious exemptions to deny same sex couples from adopting. They are, wait for it, Alabama Michigan Mississippi
North

4. Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi and North Dakota have bathroom bans in schools and some government-owned buildings. New England has no such bans.

5. New England is statistically the least religious area of the country, the South the most.

6. Alabama and the rest of the southern states ban abortion to one degree or another. New England states do not interfere with a woman’s right to make her own decisions.

7. Alabama and most of the Deep South still jail people for using weed. New England states do not.

There are some really nice people I know from the South but I do not want my teens to even think about going to a Southern state for school. Too many MAGAs and guns. They’ll stay in the Northeast where the local kids were educated in the top public schools in the country and the vibe is chill and liberal.

God forbid your children are exposed to people different from them!

Oh we are exposed maga we are all exposed. This administration is beating on higher education all over. I don't think Trump is doing diddly squat for higher education in the South or anywhere else.

We are overexposed. With the help of Maga, we voted to try to beat higher education to a bloody pulp in this country, particularly in the sciences. But shake your pom poms and smile for the camera. It's so great.

Is this sorority mom math too?

"The University of China at Illinois ... The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign enrolled 37 undergraduates from China in 2000. Now it has close to 3,000. [Inside Higher Ed, 2015]." Things are far worse in 2024 and 2025.

"Columbia University suspends, expels nearly 80 students over Gaza protests ... Columbia University has agreed to pay $200 million over the next three years to resolve claims it discriminated against Jewish students." [The NY Times, 2025]

Y'all really can't wrap your head around why happy smart gentile kids don't want to go to college on these northern and New England campuses that have been totally subverted by foreign interests? Who in the heck wants to deal with this garbage in the prime on their life - and pay upwards of $90,000 a year for the privilege. Damn that.

But I thought Southern R1s where these sororities gals film their viral videos were full of mouth-breathing hicks, bimbos, and nitwits from the North who can't compete at T25s? How are so many of them getting into U.S. medical schools? How are so many going to top law schools? How are so many making excellent money right after college in management track roles? How are so many on the Hill controlling congress? How are so many becoming engineers, CPAs, RNs, dentists, and every other solid white collar profession?

There are plenty of northerners who slide by in high school with a C+ average. They happily choose a big party school down South with hot muggy weather. The slackers love it, they can pay for it, they can find their segregated group, no problem. It’s not for my kids but I understand it works for many.

And then you have the hardworking kids going to MIT learning to work side by side with their peers from around the world who are doing serious work. The kids going to Virginia Tech, Northeastern, NYU, kids who meet a variety people from a variety of places who they have a lot in common with. Alabama is an insulated world where Americans still separate by color with these silly sororities.

Weather in the south is perfect during the school year, Sept.-May. Weather in the north is literally depression causing during the school year.

The T25 have been turned into miserable sweat shops full of ruthlessly immoral, lying, cheating and conniving swots. Southern universities are still pious, conservative leaning, fun, happy, and sunny places to get educated, meet genuine lifelong friends, and maybe a spouse.

Oh no, Sorority Mom also doesn't know how to read tables.

Those are schools with the largest # of med school applications, not matriculations. Those aren't "feeders", just very large schools.

Looks like just under half of UT-Austin applicants will be accepted to med school:
https://www.texadmissions.com/blog/2023/7/27/applying-for-pre-med-to-ut-austin

Compare that to 90% at Middlebury:
https://www.middlebury.edu/teaching-learning-research/student-resources/health-professions/prospective-students

Womp womp.
