Self fund it for those that chose to participate if no company would back it then it's not a viable program |
Yes I'd like a buyout and then opt out of ss even if it's half of what I put in I would benefit much more from it. My retirement plans do not include ss as part or my income I plan to use it 5 houses I bought and rent them out when I retire in 20 year. |
Because it’s all about you, right? No interest in a baseline to support your fellow citizens who don’t have the resources to buy a bunch of real estate. |
The only way people are going to wake up from their apathy is if it starts affecting the boomers’ SSA payments. So bring it on. |
Except Boomers aren’t the problem so much as GenZ males. And abolishing SS fits right in with that world view. |
Not anymore. "They are not so close, and in fact have shown a startlingly swing when it comes to Gen Z voters. "With that group, folks aged 18-29, Trump started with a plus-19 favorable rating back in November and is now at minus-18 points, per The Economist/YouGov poll. "That is a nearly 40-point swing to the negative" https://www.pennlive.com/politics/2025/02/donald-trumps-approval-rating-has-plummetted-dramatically-with-one-group.html |
There are a lot of people, across generations, who either are not paying attention to what is going on right now or simply don’t care because it hasn’t personally affected them yet. |
I have an idea. We could create a government funded social safety net for the elderly. Oh wait.. |
Cancel social security and keep collecting taxes and use them to pay down the debt. |
They are. But, if you are 60 with a high school education or less and have spent 40+ years doing manual labor, your body has probably broken down enough that you legit can’t stand and walk for 6 hours and lift and carry 20 pound s at least 3 hours a day and Qp pounds another 3, with various bending, stooping, etc. If you have no transferrable skills or skilled work, it’s progressively y easier to qualify at 55 and 60. You’re a DMV lawyer who has more education, some skills and can sit at a desk with stretch breaks? That’s not so easy. But hardcore manual labor over decades takes a toll. |
Company backing it up means what? Pensions? Make pensions great again? You know it's not how the modern workplace is structured anymore, right? Nobody will be able to stay employed in one place for decades to earn any sizeable pension. And employers don't want extra tax for every employee. Now what? |
Yep, if "scrutinized" means sending all the "useless eaters" to pasture. They don't want to talk about changing workplace to allow people who are unable to toil full time in current environment to keep making a living. If your body is broken off you go.. over the rainbow. Soylent Green. |
You mean just kill off all the elderly who survive only off SS? Or deny those who already worked 3 decades and are nearing retirement whatever they paid into, like legit *confiscating* the money these people paid into the system for a very long time and telling them that they now have to get a high paying job in their 50s to try to "save" and "invest" enough for their retirement or work till they drop dead given employers won't kick them out? Are you sure, comrade? I know you must love confiscation of property for the "greater good" |
Why don't you announce this to the general public and see how that goes. ![]() |
Is he going to be checking each case for fraud himself now that he fired bureaucrats who investigate fraud? Musk is not a real American and will never understand how our government works. Trump’s no scholar either. Musk is a scamming grifter. Read about how he had nothing to do with developing the electric car. He came in later using tactics of lies, deception, fraud, and came out the other side with Tesla. |
