Funny that you bring up cell phones. It was also during long-distance phones calls. It was very expensive to call Montreal from California in the 80s. Yet Kamala's only third-party witness to her Mickey D's job is an old Montreal friend who allegedly heard about the job from Kamala's mom. So Kamala's academic mom, not Kamala herself, was randomly calling 19 or 20 year old old friends of Kamala to tell then about her daughter's new job? Sure, sure.
