Hey Cap't Obvious... this is Standford's first year competing in ACC - that's why they played Wake in Conference. They thought they were rock starts until they got into the ACC and now they know what it means. |
It’s Stanford. |
|
Anyone claiming the ACC or UVa are not top tier for women’s college soccer are trolling you. ACC has more teams than any other conference in the top 20 power rankings. Not even close.
https://www.ncaa.com/rankings/soccer-women/d1/ncaa-womens-soccer-rpi Not to mention ACC is also the best academic conference outside Ivy League. ACC is the top destination for any local players. |
Voice of sanity right here ^^^. We're a DC thread site and I bet vast majority of parents would kill to send their kid to an ACC school, let alone VT/UVA. |
2 billion now that BP is there. |
EVERYONE is claiming ACC is one of the best conferences. NO ONE is talking about academics on this soccer forum. In fact, they specifically said that. DATA speaks volumes - blathering about your love for UVA does not. UVA is consistently shut out by unranked teams. The college level games have a tendency to go either way any day. UVA has not outperformed ranked teams in years. And they haven't made the NCAA tournament. Before you respond with nonsense school spirit again, go to google and look up a few things. |
Let's all take a minute to reread the post ...they were saying the ACC is one of the best. Stanford is new this year to ACC. They were ranked #1 (maybe they still are -- the rankings update every 2 weeks) but they came to play an ACC team and were shutout. They were shutout by a previously unranked ACC team. That is how good the ACC is. Now do you get it? |
If your NVA or Arlington DD committed to UVA, you’d celebrate it. It’s a VDA player, so you have to tear down UVA. DCUM is so predictable. |
Pretty much exactly ^. Entire 2005/06 class goes D1, with UCLA and Florida State commits and parents on DCUM post to cope and seethe. Now additional top girls select top schools and they wonder if the past six years were worth it at their club. I wonder if they thought a local girl would like to attend a local elite school...? Amazing thought to attend a #24 uni and #5 public uni in nation (US News) |
| It's fine. UVA doesn't make ACC or NCAA tournaments but ok...yeah they are great..whatever. |
All of these players will be done with soccer in 4 years. I hope they choose a school based on what they want to do after those 4 years, not the higher ranked soccer team. |
No! They are all going pro. REMEMBER?? |
Oh shoot ! Never mind - after a dismal few weeks, no UVA Womens soccer player is going pro any time soon. They need a refresh big time. |
You are obviously a parent who's daughter had a bad recruiting/college soccer experience. The negativity about soccer is unreal. You do realize good players that want to play in college generally don't get to "choose" the school. They are recruited by schools that choose them...most of those kids locally are not going to the ACC if they want to keep playing. There are so many factors that go into a decision if you are good enough to be recruited by any school...financial, academic, location, opportunity to get on the field, coaches...all of it. Every kid is different. |
|
How do you get off the recruiting mailing lists? DS was not selected for varsity so is hanging up the cleats as a Junior.
The letters and e-mails from the college coaches just make everything more painful. Not an ECNL player but EDP so college really isn’t realistic anyways. |
