These illegal aliens are given more than what Americans are getting from their government. No, they aren't given free everything. But it's people like you who keep suggesting that, which is then used as a way to keep encouraging more to come.

DP. What world are you living in? Serious question. Because if you were actually living in the U.S., you'd know that they are indeed given free everything - free shelter, free medical care, free food, free education. Why are you lying?

No, they aren't. Undocumented migrants pay their own rents, pay for their own food, and get billed for medical treatment. And EVERYONE gets free public school, you aren't expected to pay for that, either. But a big chunk of school funding comes out of local property taxes, which undocumented migrants pay via their rents, because any landlord with a clue bakes that into the cost buildup for setting the rent and pays it out of rental income. Note also that undocumented migrants are not eligible for any federal benefits. The only place where taxpayers end up on the hook is with people with asylum-seeker status, which is different from being an illegal alien. We have to house and feed them because the law says so. Republican HR 2 doesn't actually change that. And we can't just send them back because the law says we can't until they have a hearing to determine whether they can be deported or whether they are adjudicated as asylees. And there is a massive backlog because Republicans won't agree to add more judges and officials to speed up the hearings. HR 2 doesn't address that either. So what world are you living in, that you are completely oblivious to so many facts of law and reality?

Taxpayers pay for public education and other social services, which includes Special Education. It's a huge cost when you includevthe children of all those who are here illegally.

I'm a Democrat and I generally believe this. But where does it end? We don't have unlimited resources, and to the extent that we "help people" in this way, it serves as an incentive for more people to come. I live in NYC, where the mayor has announced budget cuts to city services that I pay for and enjoy, like the NYPL, to pay for migrant services. In addition to essential services, like the public schools. To pay for foreign nationals that weren't invited here and are essentially economic migrants.

I absolutely believe we can, and morally should, help American citizens. The ones who are here already. There's plenty of work to do on that front.

Then why do we have homeless Americans? Who do children in America go to bed hungry? Why are people not able to afford healthcare and housing?

If we can afford to help people, why so we have debt?

And, how many of them actually PAY for their medical treatment when they are billed? (see the attached that shows uncompensated medical expenses not to mention Medicaid birth costs)
Many do not pay their own rent or their own food..... look at Maine, Chicago, NY, and other cities that are currently footing the bill for them.
And, the cost to educate the children of those here illegally is substantially more than that of citizens. They require additional resources for their educational needs - ESOL teachers, translators, and other services.

The cost to American taxpayers for those here illegally is substantial and absolutely takes funding away from citizens in our country. Just ask the residents of Chicago.

ESL classes are funded by taxpayers too and boy, these kids will need a lot of them.

You are wrong. A lot of Ukrainians who crossed the border with Mexico, are now eligible for TPS and eligible for food stamps, Medicaid and some of them receive housing or help with paying rent (based on state fundings). Also those who are not eligible for any benefits, still use hospitals ERs and public schools to receive free services.

If the above is true, then why Pritzker does not want the influx of immigrants if they don't burden the schools, pay the rent, and pay their taxes? That would be a huge deal for NYC that had large population decrease since Covid.

Illegal immigration doesn't stop due to rain, sleet, or snow. Keep sending them the illegal immigrants. This is Joe Biden and the Dmeocrats' America they built. No shelter from it then.

The democrats posting here want Abbot to handle everything thrown at him and design an orderly system that is safe and effective.

Don’t we have a border czar? Kamala where are you?

Anybody seen Kamala? That echoing laugh is hard to miss, anyone hear the laugh by the border? No? No one?

Kamala is the silent border czar. Kamala the Silent.

As opposed to what Abbott, the Whinging? Funny how no other border governor is complaining as much as Abbott.

They are but aren’t getting as much press. Here is a press release from the governor of Arizona - a democrat - that was released a month ago:

Governor Katie Hobbs Signs Executive Order Sending Arizona National Guard to Border Communities

Phoenix, AZ – One week after her letter to President Biden asking him to reassign the Arizona National Guard to re-open the Lukeville Port of Entry, Governor Katie Hobbs signed an Executive Order to carry out the next step in Operation SECURE, mobilizing the National Guard to southern Arizona. There, they will assist the Department of Public Safety and local law enforcement agencies with enforcement activities, including fentanyl interdiction, analytical support, and human trafficking enforcement efforts.

“Yet again, the federal government is refusing to do its job to secure our border and keep our communities safe,” said Governor Katie Hobbs. “With this Executive Order, I am taking action where the federal government won’t. But we can’t stand alone, Arizona needs resources and manpower to reopen the Lukeville crossing, manage the flow of migrants, and maintain a secure, orderly and humane border. Despite continued requests for assistance, the Biden administration has refused to deliver desperately needed resources to Arizona’s border.”

The National Guard members will be stationed at multiple locations along the southern border, including near both the Lukeville Port of Entry and the San Miguel crossing.

Additionally, the Biden administration has failed to respond to Governor Hobbs’ request for reimbursement for border security spending.

A press release is not the same as Abbott and his constant whinging.

Funny how you neglect to mention Pritzker and Adams and their constant "whinging."
DP

This^. Why can't they stop appealing to Abbot to face consequences of policies they support and rise up to handle the challenge themselves? Set up supportive communities with shelter, soup kitchens, healthcare, job support, ESL and other training , driving schools, education for kids, legal help etc. Get as many as you can help, once tgey graduate to independent lives, admit more.

These are immigrants, most of whom have crossed the border legally. Some may have crossed without documentation, but that does not make these human beings "illegal."
Have you ever gotten a parking ticket? Overstaying your parking is illegal -- are you an "illegal" because of your illegal action?
