True - the bill hasn't made it out of the Senate for Biden to sign because DEMOCRATS refuse to pass it. However, Biden COULD sign an Executive Order at any time to stop the flow of illegal immigrants. But of course, he won't. |
Just a quick refresher for those who insist none of this is Biden's fault - from 2021:
President Joe Biden has signed three executive orders that take aim at his predecessor's hardline immigration policies and try to rectify the consequences of those policies. They will build upon the actions taken in Biden's first days in office and begin to provide a clearer picture of the administration's immigration priorities. "My grandfather would say by the grace of God and goodwill of the neighbors, we'll reunite these children and re-establish our reputation as being a haven for people in need," Biden said after signing the orders. Here's what they will do: Create a task force that would reunify families: The task force will be chaired by the Department of Homeland Security secretary. The goal will be to find parents separated from their children under the former administration. The task force will also give regular reports to the President, including one containing recommendations. Address the root cause of migration: This executive order will focus on providing support to Central America to stem the flow of migrants to the US-Mexico border and provide other pathways to migrate to the US without journeying north. This includes things like providing aid to combat corruption and taking a series of actions to restore the asylum process. Review the legal immigration system: This order will work to promote immigrant integration and inclusion, according to the White House, and re-establish a Task Force on New Americans. It will also spur a review of the public charge rule which makes it more difficult for immigrants to obtain legal status if they use public benefits such as Medicaid, food stamps and housing vouchers. Hours into his presidency, Biden moved to swiftly undo many Trump administration policies in a series of executive actions. But his administration has already faced legal hurdles in implementing those policies. https://www.cnn.com/politics/live-news/biden-presidency-trump-impeachment-2-02-21/h_f451aeafc9afa36098ae8e532cf4c55e |
DP. Here in the U.S., we say "whining." And Abbott has been doing anything but - he's been taking action as none of his previous pleas for help did one bit of good. As for other governors, Eric Adams has been quite vocal about not being able to handle any more illegal immigrants in his state, as has Pritzker - which is amusing since they've only received a tiny percentage of the millions Abbott has had to shoulder. Clearly, you'd prefer for Abbott to just shut up and keep his head down as millions flow into his state. I'm very glad he's not about to do that. |
Funny how you neglect to mention Pritzker and Adams and their constant "whinging." ![]() DP |
DP. What world are you living in? Serious question. Because if you were actually living in the U.S., you'd know that they are indeed given free everything - free shelter, free medical care, free food, free education. Why are you lying? |
DP. Why do you insist that Abbott "has to accept" the millions of illegal immigrants flooding into Texas? What makes him "have" to but not any other governor? |
You people are delusional if you place the fault of a complex issue on one man. Completely senseless morons. |
This issue is absolutely the fault of Biden. He has broken every metric when it comes to illegal immigration - encounters, releases into the US, migrant deaths, illegal drugs found in the US. And, it began during his campaign when he encouraged migrants to "surge" the border. Then, signing an EO that there would be no deportations in his first 100 days. Then, overturning everything that was working to secure the border. All of these actions were signals to migrants, and more importantly, the cartels, that he would not take enforcement of our southern border seriously. The cartels have control of our border. They decide when and where migrants will cross. They take advantage of the chaos they have created to bring in got-aways and illicit drugs and contraband. And, they are making billions because of Biden's fecklessness. |
Democrats won't sign it because it has major flaws, that's already been discussed several times in this thread. And no, Biden cannot craft law out of thin air. That's not how Executive Orders work, they have to have some basis and grounding in EXISTING law. |

No, they aren't. Undocumented migrants pay their own rents, pay for their own food, and get billed for medical treatment. And EVERYONE gets free public school, you aren't expected to pay for that, either. But a big chunk of school funding comes out of local property taxes, which undocumented migrants pay via their rents, because any landlord with a clue bakes that into the cost buildup for setting the rent and pays it out of rental income. Note also that undocumented migrants are not eligible for any federal benefits. The only place where taxpayers end up on the hook is with people with asylum-seeker status, which is different from being an illegal alien. We have to house and feed them because the law says so. Republican HR 2 doesn't actually change that. And we can't just send them back because the law says we can't until they have a hearing to determine whether they can be deported or whether they are adjudicated as asylees. And there is a massive backlog because Republicans won't agree to add more judges and officials to speed up the hearings. HR 2 doesn't address that either. So what world are you living in, that you are completely oblivious to so many facts of law and reality? |
Maine is paying rent for migrants for up to 2 years.
NY has spent over $1 billion on housing and feeding migrants and plans to spend $2 billion more. |
Well, that's why they thought "build a wall" was available solution, lol. |
