So typical that lamestream media failed to include the full quote. #rude |
I really think you missed my point completely. I am taking what you just said as true. Now read what I posted. |
Translation: It’s ok for this to happen to Texas. When other states are forced to deal with a tiny percentage of what Texas deals with, it is instantly WRONG. Shame on Texas for showing other states how overwhelming this situation is. How dare they! |
PP here and it is not OK for it to happen to Texas. We need to do much much more to secure the border. It is ALSO not OK for Texas to ship these people to another city without any notice or coordination or attempt to locate a place that is prepared. |
Texas has no notice of the people they receive. They are forced by the fed gov to take whomever shows up at the border. Why is that ok to expect Texas to handle, but not other states and cities and especially sanctuary cities? They should be asking Texas to send them every migrant that needs assistance and a new home. They have been very vocal about protecting and helping immigrants. |
It’s not, but at least people won’t freeze to death in Texas. Why can’t they be bused to somewhere warm? |
Sanctuary cities have publicly declared they want to protect and assist and help immigrants. Why can’t they do that? |
You are not getting that it is not OK for Texas and it is also not OK for them to dump people without notice. There is a way to be humane and to coordinate. Spend the money on they are spending for these airplanes on services, prevention or even lobbying on immigration. Create a mechanism to determine the places that either offer to take them or are better prepared to take them. At a bare minimum, give some notice so people can prepare. Dumping people in Chicago is not impacting a handful of congresspeople in DC. It is impacting the American citizens who work to meet the needs or homeless, who ARE homeless, and who live in those communities. |
Dumping people in Texas creates the same problems for Texas and Texas has asked for relief from the federal government. The federal government has denied that relief. Allowing Texas to be flooded with illegal immigrants is impacting American citizens who work to meet the needs of the homeless, who are homeless, and who live in those communities. You basically don’t care about the impact on Texans, expect Texas to deal with everything, and are only concerned that other cities and states are being impacted negatively. Why should Texas bear the total responsibility for the decision of the federal government? All of America can deal with it if the federal government won’t act. |
It's entirely Joe Biden's fault and every single one of you who voted for Biden enabled this.
I watched, just after Biden took office, the first convoy of 100k people approach the border. Even the news realized something was up. The whole world was watching. Biden said let them in. The world responded. What did you expect? Yep. That's right. Democrats - this is entirely your problem and entirely your fault. So now I hear Democrats whining about it. Wow. |
They are fine with it until it impacts them. Now that they have to actually put their money where their mouth is, it’s a big problem. And they blame Texas for the problem. Biden is at fault. |
PP here. I agree with every word of your first paragraph. I also agree that Texas should not bear total responsibility and I agree that all of America should [work together to] deal with it. I suggested several other options to share the burden humanely and productively. Dumping people is not the only option, and not a good one. |
How are you not understanding that Texas is trying to stop people from rushing the border and to use official transit entry points. How is it we are a sovereign nation and literally a quarter of a million people have rushed our borders in one month alone! According to the Voice of America, "Reuters and other news organizations estimate that 300,000 people attempted to cross the border in the final month of 2023, with about 50,000 of them coming through designated points of entry." What do you think Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California is supposed to do? There is NO MORE ROOM for migrants there. In contrast look at the comparably small numbers of migrants shipped by Texas: Texas as of Jan. 12, 2024 has bused: Over 12,500 migrants to Washington, D.C. since April 2022 Over 37,100 migrants to New York City since August 2022 Over 30,800 migrants to Chicago since August 2022 Over 3,400 migrants to Philadelphia since November 2022 Over 15,700 migrants to Denver since May 18 Over 1,500 migrants to Los Angeles since June 14 So in around a year and a half Chicago has received 30,000 migrants. THAT IS A DROP IN THE HAT! Where do you think these 250,000 people should go that arrived IN DECEMBER 2023 ALONE? Every state needs to share the burden. Chicago and New York don't need advance notice. They are already on notice they will continue to receive migrants until this crisis is over. |
So Biden should reinstate Trump's Covid emergency regs? |
