Murders in DC have been growing at a much faster pace, and you probably agree that being murdered is a tad worse than getting covid. I assume you live in a bunker under your (fortified) house? |
Was just at Dulles and saw maybe 2 or 3 masks over the course of a few hours |
| On a plane right now. Maybe one out of 15 wearing a mask |
Insane that only one in fifteen has a brain! |
Even worse, she's not the one wearing a mask! But that's a separate discussion. |
I know you wish this was the case but really, it’s not. The rational people, who can make decisions without emotion interfering, are the ones who aren’t masking. They know the risk is low, and getting Covid is just the new norm. If you want to pretend that masking makes you smarter, then feel free to partake in that delusion. |
And if you look at wastewater data, cases are already leveling or dropping in the Northeast and South. https://biobot.io/data/ There is no "surge." Take the graphs farther out on the x axis to 2020 to get a real picture of what's happening. The slope of increase is much smaller than it has ever been for any surge. |
Omicron is more equivalent to other viral infections like influenza because it is milder than ancestral strains. The CDC reviewed cases in December 2021 when both Delta & Omicron were circulating. They found that those infected with Omicron had substantially less severe outcomes than those infected with Delta, irrespective of vaccination status or prior infections: https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2022.01.11.22269045v1.full.pdf "we identified substantially reduced risk of severe clinical outcomes among patients with presumed Omicron variant infections [versus Delta]. Within the subset of our cohort ... Omicron variant infections were associated with 52%, 53%, 74%, and 91% reductions in risk of any subsequent hospitalization, symptomatic hospitalization, ICU admission, and mortality, relative to Delta variant infections. … Reductions in disease severity associated with Omicron variant infections were evident among both vaccinated and unvaccinated patients, and among those with or without documented prior SARS-CoV-2 infection. ... Consistency of the association of Omicron variant infection with reduced risk of hospitalization across age and comorbidity categories, and regardless of prior immunity from vaccination or SARS-CoV-2 infection, during the same month and in the same population, argues against host or behavioral factors as causes of the observed disease attenuation with the Omicron variant.” |
| The COVID crazies need something new to glom onto. It's such a stretch now that they seem extra psychotic. |
Lies!! I was there today and counted 3 masks. |
| I never believed COVID was serious. I never quarantined in 2020 and continued to live life as normal seeing friends. So needless to say, the answer to your question is no. |
You and people like you are the reason why it was so bad before and why it’s coming back with a vengeance. |
Thank you. |
| No! |
It's so funny-- the people freaking out about Covid shooting up are so chill about crime spiking in DC (and elsewhere but especially DC, where I live and work. Our office is still requiring masks!). |
