We're talking about in the context of women's basketball though. The basketball media likes to have an almost singular focus on one "anointed" player at a given time that sucks up all of the air in the room.

It's gone from Breanna Stewart to Sabrina Ionescu to Paige Bueckers and now Caitlin Clark. Might just be coincidence, but don't think players don't notice.

Breanna is arguably WCBB GOAT, but the rest have won the square root of feck all championships, even though they are all great players.

Caitlin and Hailey always gets the benefit of the doubt for their trash talk, flopping and other antics, yet Angel and players from similar backgrounds are pilloried.
