1880 called and want their talking points back. Why do you act like steel mills and coal mines are the only jobs to be had? |
Considering that the Kennedys are one of three political families, that isn't bad. |
About 44% of white Americans are estimated to be descended from people in the 1790 census. About 60% of all Americans have ancestors that lived in America during the revolutionary war. Seems like “many”. |
Does that 60% include people who were enslaved by WASPs? |
And unlike the D"s does next to nothing for domestic manufacturing. Historically the R's love to get rid of anything resembling worker safety legislation. It seems like they mostly just change the conversation to these emotional culture war issues which overide self-interest. |
If you read about the history of some places, these things have gone in waves. First it was mostly Anglo settlers, then a lot of Germans, and so on. In Pennsylvania's coal country there are lots of stories about who came and who then looked down on who - English, then Welsh mining engineers, then Irish laborers and so on, each rising a bit in class and then looking down on the next wave of immigrants to follow - the italians, and then the slovaks, poles, hungarians and so on. The more recent replace the others on the lowest rung of this unspoken caste system. That's still reflected in many parts of the country. |
The Mayflower was a LONG time ago and the populations you are describing have been in the US for 100-150 years. |
And originally sold by their African leaders into dlavery? Don’t leave that out. |
There still is a cultural difference. Look at the strong Italian and Irish communities that still exist today. The little ND leprechaun MFer is obviously MAGA. |
It is honestly shameful that you would make a statement like this. No president has been more pro-union than Biden in living memory. |
The phenomenon of "new" whites or "white adjacents" being more racist than Lilly whites is well-known and nothing new. |
It’s astounding that this is a revelation for people. It’s all about class, not identity and yet even the OP frames the obvious class distinction around ethnicity and identity. There can be no better example of how utterly tone deaf some people can be. Democratic party leaders need to wake up to this glaring truth sooner than later or else we are truly without hope. |
They're movin on up they think. Not the way they were treated when they came here a century+ ago. |
Yes. Most ADOS people are descended from slaves AND slave-owners. That's why they have so much European DNA. |
