Do you think some kids are not sharing their elite acceptances for some reason? Could that be why the numbers appear bad so far? |
I don’t think so. TJ kids (and parents) are hypercompetitive types. Like Iceman in the original Top Gun. You know what I mean. |
mom of a current tj senior. not that many ivy + ivy adjacent acceptances this year, but a TON of kids on waitlists. so may 1 won't bring you all the clarity you're desiring. it will be a few weeks or even into the summer. |
It appears that UIUC, Purdue and VT are admitting lots of TJ kids! |
No, kids know who was accepted where and who is going where. So they are not in a rush to share and busy with finishing up. The data will be available anyways sometimes during the summer. |
Expected. Although last year don’t know why few went to VT. TJ kids are known to be super strong in STEM, and we know where the money is. |
Any updates now that it's past the decision day? |
I’m curious too. Did TJ seniors wear their chosen college apparel on decision day? |
There will be a college shirt day at TJ but not on decision day. This week and next still kids are busying finishing up AP exams. College shirt day will be likely coming soon after AP exams. |
As a TJ senior parent, I can tell you that all students have made their decisions by now. Most are happy and some are not. Most want to share and some are not. You will see much more details 4 weeks from today. As always, it would be a successful college application cycle, maybe a little bit down from TJ's high, but should still be a decent year. Congrats to all seniors, move on and the best yet to come! |
The kids who don’t share are ridiculous. First, by not sharing they draw attention to themselves, which supposedly they don’t want. If it turns out they have a great option, but “don’t want to hurt the feelings of others,” they look like a snob - like hyper-competitive kids expect/need protection from their peers. If they have an OK option, they’ve brought extra attention to their choice and signaled their disappointment with it. Second, this information gets around anyway through gossip, LinkedIn, and other sources. Just own your result! |
Rabid DCUM parents and troll warriors need to back off and just let these kids enjoy their senioritis.
|
I know someone who made deposits to 2 colleges that accepted them last year because by May they still couldn’t decide which one to attend. That kid didn’t share. |
WTF? As a TJ senior parent I know no one at TJ is pulling that kind of crap. They have an entire student run system setup to share their results. they all post their SAT/ACT, gpa, schools they applied to, result of their application and final destination. This was setup a while back to guide the next class. My DC knows where everyone else is going. They own their result alright and probably better than anyone else. |
