Sadly, by the time the first officer got there, those kids were probably already shot. Why it took 12 minutes to respond to the first call is definitely something I want to know. That’s a LOT of time! That no officer went in, I find disturbing. Police lacked leve 4 ballistic shields (i.e. needed gear) when they got there, which is also disturbing. That gives the shooter an advanced position. The border agent did have a shield.

That’s a pretty high level alert, don’t you think? Again, it’s a deterrent. You make things more difficult for the gunman to get inside in the first place. That gives a resource officer on premise time to get to the scene. Even a sign stating there are people armed and ready to defend inside the school is a huge deterrent. The goal of these nuts is to get inside and kill and make a name for themselves before they themselves die. When they can’t do that, they don’t go into that school. They search for an easier target.
