Former Sec. of State and former 4 star General and chairman of the Joint Chief of staff famously advised George H.W. Bush that the only way to go to war with Iran was to have a fool proof exit strategy. That's the reason the four presidents after Bush 41 never invaded Iran. Trump however is a fool and he had no problem going in but now can't get out.

They clearly realized what a mistake this was in mid March, and have been trying to figure out how to exit in this digital age - years ago, they could surrender but lie about it, but now they have to surrender but make it look like a success.
Frankly, I just want the war to end, I don’t care. I’ll pretend it’s a success if it means the war ends.

+1. Trump's ego is the whole reason we got into this war. Republicans need to grow a spine and tell the emperor he has no clothes.

Also, what an amazing coincidence that Trump finally takes the negotiations seriously enough to cancel his golf plans on a weekend when the weather was terrible for golfing on the entire east coast.

Watched the mainstream media panelists talk about Iran and the war is shocking. Some former general was saying oh Iran still has their missiles and can attack their neighbors.WTF? The US and Israel attacked Iran because the Iranians were having a cabinet meeting.

Iran should be demanding the US and Israel give up their long strike capabilities and their nuclear weapons. Let’s see how that would go over.

Trump is stuck. He needs to end the war because it’s unpopular and he needs to bring down oil prices. yet this war is a boom for US oil companies who making a ton of money and I’m sure Trump is getting some kind of kickback.

If he were to just pretend we won the war, Iran would still control the Straight (they are never giving that up) and consumers would see oil prices continue to rise.

It hasn’t affected his polling number with his base so he can keep manipulating the market with promises of a deal.

It will be interesting to find out someday. I do think that Trump might think he’s in charge because he’s making some decisions, but the decisions are based on handpicked intelligence fed to him to make moves chosen for him.
