Your mother is correct. See also the lack of concern for actual public servants who were recently killed. No flags lowered for them or VPs carrying their caskets.

I'm not a fan of Crowder, but he published the bulletin that he received and he accurately reported what it said. Whomever wrote the bulletin apparently was clueless.

Also, another word of caution. The bullet pictures posted here are not of the actual bullets.We don't know that the actual bullets look anything like these pictures.

Maybe such inflammatory reports shouldn’t be made without clear corroboration? Especially by a org the size of WSJ. Just a thought.

Breaking news interrupted tv to say they have a suspect in custody. Trump was on Fox and said that. No name yet.

They said someone close to the suspect encouraged them to turn themselves in.

While the death of any child, under any circumstances, is a horrific tragedy, this was potentially a politically motivated public assassination of a prominent conservative personality with broad appeal among young voters.

I’ve never heard of him nor have my tweens. We aren’t big into SM though. Is Kirk kinda like Mr. Beast? I have heard of Mr. Beast? Is that his name? He had his own brand of lunchables.

If you had an 18 year old boy he would have heard of him. My college freshman said the killing was all his team talked about at practice yesterday. The team is a mix of conservative and liberal kids and opinions on Kirk ranged from adoration to disgust. He said they had a respectful discussion, which gave me great hope.

So Kirk was basically the radical right conservative version of Mr. Beast? Along these lines?

He is popular enough that South Park had a bit on him.

This was really irresponsible reporting. I am a fan of WSJ, but they put this on their front page. Egregious and now conspiracy theorists will never believe anything else.

I don’t think particularly highly of the WSJ, but I’m genuinely shocked that no one there has even a basic working knowledge of what firearm ammunition looks like.

Not particularly shocked about the WSJ getting it wrong, but I am surprised that none of the right wing social media provocateurs knew that the TRN on the casings was just a brand marker.

I mean true, but I saw what Crowder posted and what started that whole rumor. And it was an actual screen shot of notes from law enforcement (don’t know if it was FBI, ATF, the local PD or what) that said “casings were found with trans markings on them” or something to that effect. Then it turned out ope “TRN” is the manufacturer. But how did no one who investigates crimes and presumably shoots a gun regularly know that that was the case and immediately jumped to “omg TRN = trans?”

Kirk was a sort of "ambassador" to the left... and he was murdered because of it. What happens when an ambassador is killed? That's a casus belli and has been since Ghengis Khan, at the very least.

I don’t appreciate the broad generalization happening here. First off, this person probably worked alone, 75 million people and or anyone official is involved here. I have no control over what others say or do. And I think “lots” is an exaggeration. The celebrators are a minority amongst a large group of people.

It's been less than 24 hours since he was killed, and I've already seen coworkers, people just out in public - and certainly a lot of people on this very board, openly cheering that he was killed.

I think you're wrong in thinking that this is a 'small' segment of people on the left. I wasn't even looking, and saw dozens of examples of it, less than a day after he was killed.

I didn't agree with much of anything Charlie Kirk said. But first and foremost, he was a human being, with a wife and two young kids that will now grow up without a father. I'm deeply disappointed and kind of shocked by my own political party at the moment. There's some sickening stuff being said on reddit/bluesky/twitter, and it's not even been a day.

I am not seeing anyone at all cheering. I am seeing people respond to his death in the exact same way he responded to other deaths. I am seeing people quote him word for word and then being told they are sick for making such comments.

It is sick. To me, it implies they think he deserved it.

Not that he deserved it any more than any other shooting victim would have deserved it. You know the person that Kirk would consider collateral damage just to preserve the 2nd Amendment.

My college teens had never heard of him, when he was shot, they were told by friends that “he promotes gun violence and says horrific things”
