Elon Musk buys $3 billion stake (9.2%) in Twitter and is now the platform's largest shareholder

The worst part is the guy is SO BAD about retweeting misinformation. WTH??

Even if he personally thinks some conspiracy theory has merit, he's the goddamn owner of this thing and it makes the whole company look bad when he does it. Teenagers show more restraint on his platform.

If you understand that he is deeply compromised and is siding with the enemies of the US and his dismantling of Twitter was funded by the Oligarchs and Saudi's, then it all makes sense.

He seems to have a Trumptilian ability to evade most complications.

Except the bankers. Debt Waits for No Man.

Twitter has been unusable and it's become clear especially during the last few days. All threads are full of blue check verified trolls and spam. Off to Threads, and fingers crossed they get a desktop option soon.

LOL, only in the wildest fantasies of braindead QAnon types was the Biden administration embarrassed by the Twitter files.

I thought I read somewhere that they had rolled that out a week or so ago?

Not gonna lie. I love watching the twitter (X) downfall. I was once told that the most dangerous time in a man's life is when he starts to believe his own hype. And if you look at recorded history you can see that there's a lot of truth of that.

When someone chooses to pay $44B for a company that barely clocked $3B at the time of its acquisition, you can tell you're no longer dealing a rational player or one that is as intelligent as he thinks he is. To say nothing of those who funded the deal. I mean let's say the banks repossess it and then what ? What will be left off to sell to offset the inevitable losses ? All of this for what? Because a tragically insecure man wanted to play kingmaker ? I'm loving it.

Threads.net - it has been on desktop for a while.

Anyone else find it ironic that journalists go to twitter to complain about twitter?

It's a medium of communication, so no, not really.

+1 It’s not their fault that Elon purposely ran it into the ground. That’s a platform so many places used as news disseminators and I literally mean alerts and such like “are the fireworks going on despite the rain” earlier this summer. Twitter is now busted and unusable.

No. It seems like the absolute best place to direct a complaint.

This is another NBC piece about X and this conflict....
Can't help but wonder how many of the people here bought into this.

In addition to generally inflammatory content around the conflict, most of the accounts posted at least one of two misleading videos. Both of the videos take footage of Russian government officials speaking in Russian and overlay inaccurate English subtitles to falsely indicate that the officials said they wanted to escalate military conflict in Israel. Alethea declined to attribute the videos to a particular country or intelligence operation.

One video is a clip from Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s speech to the United Nations in January, in which he complained about right-wing commentator Tucker Carlson not being on Fox News anymore. The other is Russian President Vladimir Putin saying in January that while the global threat of nuclear war was growing, Russia would not launch a nuclear weapon first.

The videos posted by the X accounts, however, overlaid those clips with captions that made both men seem to threaten the U.S. with overt military support for the Palestinians.
