Boundary Review Meetings

Did they show transportation data for other pyramids? It’s interesting that they didn’t for WSHS/Lake Braddock. That was one of the stated priorities yet we were only shown split feeders and islands data.

Funny that you whine then in the next sentence complain about whiners.

I thought nearly every speaker had valid points.

It's ridiculous they aren't using appropriate data and projections.

I agree-

I heard valid questions, asking for data and reasoning. Many times, Dr. Reid seemed to not understand the questions asked or dynamics of these communities.

Answer to the teacher (?) from Cardinal Forest was also frustrating..

Well if she was there she didn’t ask a question. It was mostly pissed off White Oaks parents and Sangster parents who really dislike LBSS. One said LBSS middle schoolers get accosted on buses by HS students and are sexually harassed. It was wild.

It was not wild at all It was parents from many different schools voicing concerns for their children’s future. All done respectfully and with very good questions. I hope Reid heard the concerns - especially the questions about data and projected numbers and will take it to heart. I honestly felt more heard in that meeting than I have with SA and other members in previous conversations. But maybe Reid is just a better politician and better at making people feel like their comments are making an impact.

There are 3 more map revisions.

Map 5 will be revisions to map 4.

Map 5 goes to the school board and they create a new map 6.

Map 6 goes to reid. Reid make changes to create map 7.

Map 7 is the final map the school board votes on, with no opportunity for parent feedback, even if it completely different than maps 4 and 5.

Why would the school board get a pass at the maps before Reid? I don’t think that’s right.

Doesn't Map 5 go to the BRAC?

She's definitely a politician. She seemed dismissive of a few comments, but not most.

The wild reference wasn’t the whole night, that poster was referring to the negative comments about Lake Braddock….with the Lake Braddock principal there. That part was indeed wild and also awkward.

I did feel bad she didn’t respond the the boy making the point about choosing classes. That’s a huge issue for 8th graders - picking classes but not knowing which school they will attend and then potentially not getting the courses they need

I thought this evening's meeting was incredibly civil, and I was very impressed with the kids who spoke and were asking to move with their class. Clearly high emotions, but all were pretty much kept in check. The questions surrounding the data were good. I was expecting fireworks and just saw reasonable parents asking realistic questions and giving thoughtful comments.

I thought she kind of chuckled at one of the kids, but I forget whether it was that kid.

I found it interesting no one problem up bringing Rolling Valley kids from Lewis into WSHS. I thought that would come up. I was going to ask but the meeting was already over time and people were tired.

A third mentioned it early on in the night, in context of a different question.

What was Reid’s response?

+1. I felt like that was the type of meetings we should have had all along. Not the feeding frenzy that was Phase 1.

For neighborhoods that are being rezoned, would the grandfathered-in rising seniors need to find their own transportation to remain at their existing HS or would FCPS be providing the transportation?
