This sounds a lot like Montgomery County to be honest. Just because there are some Asians who've worked their way into the white schools/neighborhoods doesn't mean there's not a lot of segregation and racism. |
Oh, hon |
| I refuse to live in states with laws hostile to women’s reproductive rights or hostile to LGBTQ+ individuals. |
| A lot of it is political, both regarding historical politics and the present day. A little of it is classism, because the South is cheaper. However I doubt many of these South-haters would turn down an amazing job opportunity in Atlanta. And I’m not sure rural Georgia is any worse than say rural Pennsylvania. |
I'm sorry what do you not understand about red states right now? What do you not understand about Gov Abbott and Paxton in Texas or DeSantis in Florida and the horrifying laws they are changing. Same in Tennessee, Alabama, MO, Mississippi, You want women to lose all their rights. Religion taught in public school which religion might that be CHURCH OF SATAN??? It ain't gonna be Catholic! What do you not understand about how red states are ok with girls being raped by old white christian men????? Not like Epstein files did not drop today..... The cost of living in these states is climbing like crazy their economies are tanking no jobs etc. and you are asking this ? How stupid are you? |
For one Red state are no longer cheaper. Two their economies are held up by Blue states. It is past time for Blue states to stop sending funds for red states. |
This. |

Mid 40s guy here who grew up in NoVa and since moved to a different region of the country. Got into UVa/VT/GT for college. Went to my visit at GT and despite it being an amazing school, could never see myself living there. This was in the early 2000s and it's not much better now.
If a young naive 18 year old can see something isn't quite right, not sure why you can blame others pointing out some big issues. I'm sure there are incredible people all over the south, but it definitely wasn't for me coming from NoVa. |
But that's an electoral map, so it reflects the margins in every state. Most of the states that went for Trump had areas that supported Harris, and vice versa. To me, it just promotes division to hate on an entire region. I've never lived in what most would consider the south (just NY, NJ, DC, MD, and NoVa), but I have relatives in areas that are indisputably the south. Some are MAGA, and just as many are true-blue progressives who walk the walk far more than most in the DC area. There's enough intolerance floating around already. It's a shame that people stretch to be tribal about regions when they don't need to be. |
+1 And a lot of it is hot & swampy. Yuck. |
And Buffalo and Syracuse are frigid has-been cities, so there's that. |
| There’s just a lot of hate in general on this site. |
| Its a trashy place |
Land doesn't vote. People do.
|
| They’re all either racist or uncultured or poor. It’s hard out there. |
