| Pp. We went Dec 27th and 28th and paid that price. So for NYE $350 is a steal. |
| We stay in NJ and either drive in and park (but not at peak times) or the hotel has a shuttle to the train. Getting into the areas we want to go takes less time than getting across the city. |
|
$350 a night is reasonable and low for NYC, especially on NYE.
As others said, you can stay in NJ or deep Brooklyn or Queens. |
| Weehawken right at the ferry or the financial district on the weekend used to be my suggestion. But not sure at NYE! |
DP. Sheraton Lincoln Harbor sold out for NYE. Plus expensive to take cab back from Manhattan. We used ferry in AM and bus back from Penn Station (too downscale for holiday treat). |
Do you think they'll object to random strangers like OP and her family showing up for a few nights? |
It’s quiet, easy parking. I haven’t been in that area in a few years so I don’t know how much it’s changed but it’s worth checking out. |
+1 Jersey is the way to go if driving. You cut out a lot of potential city traffic. Hoboken has direct service to Midtown. Jersey City requires a transfer. |
The least expensive place I've stayed at in NYC was a cousins house, OP should try that. |
ok ding dongs, as another PP said, LIC is cheap. I was another person vouching that its pretty convenient too. |
|
Do not in December. Go Sunday evening to Monday. Go in August. Go and stay in Queens or Jersey or by Wall Street. Those are my tips.

wait until the day before and book through a true "last minute" site. The one I used doesn't even tell you which hotel you are getting, but what kind it is (4 stars or whatever).
seriously booked a room for $150, but you need a risk tolerance. |
My SIL and her family (husband and two kids) have lived in LIC for over a decade now. It’s a great place and very convenient to get to manhattan. |
What site did you use |
Not PP, but Hoteltonight does this. |
