I fear I am going to be fat FOREVER - vent/advice-seeking

This was me at 45.

4 months on Zepbound, and I’m down 20 lbs. Losing slowly but losing. I need to lose another 40. It has been so nice to diet and actually see results without feeling stressed, hungry, and tired. No yo-yo. No extreme diet. I focus on protein and fiber, and eating smaller portions of whatever else I feel like. Just do it.

Op I’m sorry, I read your post too fast and just saw that you tried tirzepitide already. What dose did you get up to?

I’m still titrating, about to start 10mg. Again, it’s working, but slowly. I figure slow is better than nothing.

So one prior poster was pretty rude about it, but, I think it's the truth. In all my research, the experts says that if you stay in a caloric deficit, you will lose weight....there is no ifs, and, or buts. No hormones, insulin, cortisol, anything...that can prevent weight loss when you are burning more calories than you are ingesting. Can you take a real hard look at what you are eating and drinking? I know you said that you counted calories before, but you must be missing something. My advice...don't listen to all these people saying to love yourself and accept the weight and all that. If you aren't happy with your weight, keep working. Don't give up. Keep exercising, keep walking, keeping lifting weights, keep cutting junk food,...keep with the high protein, low calorie. Keep it up.

Good lord, the 700 calories a day + claimed 30k+ steps a day thread just will not die. This person either has an eating disorder or is lying or both. I'm sorry but walking 30-50k steps a day is pretty nuts. Maintaining 700 calories a day is nuts. Doing both is just bonkers.

dp. I agree with all this. I'll add that emotional eating often does not register in our brains. Seriously. I want to lose the 25 lbs I've gained due to emotional eating over the past 2 years. I also want to keep soothing myself with food. Even when I track, I seriously underestimate how much I consumed. I am accepting that I won't lose the weight until I find a better way to comfort myself.

I am OP of that thread... I posted evidence of my steps. I am toying with the idea of posting before and after pictures so that you can understand that, whatever else I am doing, I am not lying. This happened. Today, while I was wearing leggings, someone approached me to tell me I reminded them of "Jennifer Aniston". No kidding. I was over 200 lbs less than 8 months ago. I actually understand your skepticism, but what I did is real, and, the thing, it wasn't that hard. I explained there, eating <700 calories is easier than eating 1200 calories.

PP the doubter-turned-believer - you don't need to post pictures for them, they won't believe what they can't believe, especially in this day and age with AI and everything. Of course what works for you won't work for many/most but I'm super happy for you and for hopefully a few other DCUMs who came across your thread and giving it a try. Please do post updates when you hit your goal weight and on maintaining it for the long run - most of us know that's the biggest challenge on this journey. GL.

OP, I am very sorry that you are going through this. Bad sleep/stress also keep us from losing weight. I’m sure with a toddler and two other kids your sleep and stress levels are far from optimal. I’d prioritize my sleep and then give keto a few months. I’d also add intermittent fasting but still eat breakfast and have late lunch/early dinner and aim to finish eating by 4-5pm. Don’t have caffeine on empty stomach but have it with your breakfast or after. And do not snack between meals at all and try to have 4hrs gap between meals. This should stabilize and decrease your insulin level and hopefully facilitate the weight loss.

Oh and before anyone suggests it, I have been on both tirzepitide and semaglutide and neither worked. WTF.

I am now trying the last-ditch effort of a carnivore diet. It’s been 2.5 weeks, and after an initial drop of water weight I haven’t lost anything. My panels are normal, my blood glucose is normal, and I am so plucking depressed at the notion of being perpetually chubby/overweight. I have tried EVERYTHING. Will carnivore/keto be the answer to my problems? Or should I just get used to being FAT!?


While doing all of this did you track your consistency? How many days in any month were you going over your set calorie goal? It is hard to his 90% consistency and we often hit 70% or so which is enough to feel really hard and like we are doing everything right while being just outside where we need to be to lose weight. Or we eat well M-F then relax on the weekend. Did you weight all your food vs estimating?

The fact that your won't post your height /weight / BMI / fat%, and talking abou losing weight ins 2.5 WEEKS suggests that you are anorexic with a body image problem.

nobody heard it, and nobody clapped, but you know even if people clapped... like, why wouldn't i want to be be compared to one fittest and healthiest looking celebrities who is also close to my age? what is something "very wrong" with being happy someone made that comparison after spending 15 years in obesity?
