Ok, when is the updated strain Covid vax going to be available?

Canada says:

The following recommendations apply during 2025 and up to the summer of 2026:

COVID-19 vaccination is recommended for those previously vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals at increased risk of SARS-CoV-2 infection or severe COVID-19 disease as follows:
All adults 65 years of age or older
Those 6 months of age and older who are:
residents of long-term care homes and other congregate living settings
individuals with underlying medical conditions that place them at higher risk of severe COVID-19, including children with complex health needs
pregnant women and individuals who are pregnant
individuals in or from First Nations, Métis and Inuit communitiesFootnote 1
members of racialized and other equity-denied communitiesFootnote 2
health care workers and other care providers in facilities and community settingsFootnote 3
All individuals (previously vaccinated and unvaccinated) 6 months of age and over not in the preceding list may receive the COVID-19 vaccine

But can we ( Americans) get it there? I wasn't asking about what they recommend.

Go do your own research.

Vaccines are out; cod liver oil is in. You can get it at drugstore, I guess.

And there won't be any surges at all, because whoever would have identified and reported them has been fired.

Problem solved! What stable geniuses we have in charge now!

I get that, but with school starting, and no word on the flu vaxx either, the implications for a double surge could be overwhelming. I was really hoping for at least Sept. Hope they get on it.

Come on now. There’s no evidence of that. There have been no “surges” to overwhelm medical facilities since 2020.

Im immune compromised and my doc is not recommending the COVID vax, but just flu and pneumonia.

There's literally a surge right now. There was a surge of flu and Covid this year and last. And, no it wasn't 2020 that overwhelmed hospitals, it was 2021 and 2022. And yes, there are still Covid deaths.

“Literally”? How would you know, there’s no group currently reporting on this.

Excellent point. However, I have heard of an uptick from several folks in healthcare.

An uptick does not mean a surge as OP is freaking out about. It’s normal for viruses to have ebbs and flows throughout the year.

The old one is still available (from last year), but there is little hope of another updated one until 2029, thanks to trump. They’ve fired everyone who would approve it and set up redundant roadblocks to slow it down to a halt.
I’m still trying to figure out if I can get the one from last year without paying $150 or more out of pocket…is insurance covering it? I heard no.

Are you saying there is no updated variant Covid vax? That cannot be correct. There would be zero point in having last year's vax. Can someone check this?

Last years vax still offers protection, at least 4 months. There is a surge coming, strain that is a bit more infectious, so I’d get it. With so many if the population unvaxxed, or unboostered, it could be a problem.

My understanding is that last year's vax is not matched at all with this new strain.
So is there a new strain vax or not? No one knows?

There most certainly is, but why you aren't hearing about it is this has all been squashed by the CDC. No reporting. We are relying on independent waste water data.

Using a Sharpie to change or obliterate data does not cause the situations described by the data to go away. We have now seen Trump attempt this with:

-weather data
-infectious disease data
-economic data

Don’t be the know-nothing who thinks that no or positive-sounding data from govt means there is no issue. Confirm.

Who gets the flu shot when school starts? Is it even available then?

Covid is going around. By the time it’s released there will be a new strain.
