So far, so good, but he is a freshman, so early days. He got generous merit aid, and good credit for AP and IB courses. His classes aren’t too big — he was invited to take an honors section of math (his major) with like 15 students. |

Submitted 1540, I think App was very strong in recommendations (her school wanted to nominate her for UVA Jefferson award) Also very involved in social justice and school leadership and sports, but a Mediocre athlete :/ Well rounded - lots of AP history and literature, and even 1 science and calc AB, but hates math & science |

My DD, 4.0uw West Point
My niece, 4.0uw NYU fyi now that I've worked with my niece (from a different high school) on college apps, I think the high school they go to makes a big difference. Every high school is a feeder to a different set of colleges. My other DD had a 3.7 but her high school is a strong feeder into UChicago, and she got in there. My niece's GPA and extracurricular activities were really extraordinary, but her high school had never sent anyone to UChicago or any Ivies. They did, however, have a track record for NYU, so that helped her make a decision to ED there. |

yes, but we are wondering about the opposite. how many 4.0 kids go to crappy schools. |
| What about the kids with tests in the 1400s |
Yeah, well, that’s how to get accepted apparently. You can watch the YouTube videos by Stanford students sharing their admissions “secrets.” |
Seems true. Our school never has a student accepted to UNC. |
