How often does your 7 year old shower/bathe?

Eh, my kid doesn’t shower daily, but he doesn’t complain about bathing either. He actually enjoys showers. He also has no issues falling or staying asleep, whether or not he bathes that night.

Children are with me half of the week and their father the other half. I make sure my 4 and 6 year old shower or bathe at least once when they are with me, and I've asked their dad to do the same, but it's been a battle with him, so usually I end up washing them when they get to my place and then again before they leave.

My kids are half black so their hair doesn't need washing more than 1-2 times a week, and their skin gets dry if they bathe every day.

My 3 kids (10, 8, 6) take a bath or shower every night before bed unless they are out particularly late for some reason. We've done this since they were babies, my wife and i always bathed daily, etc. Honestly i'm kind of surprised to see all of the every other day or even longer gaps and wonder if it's cultural? We are US born and raised. Also, my 8 and 6 year old are constantly dirty, sitting or playing on the floor or outdoors, doing cartwheels, falling down, you can literally see the dirt most days.

Depends on physical activity and season.

Black mom with biracial kids here, use lotion. Also, even if you're not washing their hair daily, please moisturize it daily to avoid breakage.

I'm first generation American and it's been my observation that it's usually American parents, not immigrants or first generation, that are ok with not showering regularly.
Growing up my mother would never let us skip showers.

We take this approach as well. I think it makes sense. Sometimes you have to bathe daily (especially if wearing sunscreen, going in a pool, playing outside, etc.). But in December or January when they are indoors most of the time and not sweating much? My preference would be every other day but sometimes I let it go longer.

The one caveat here is that it depends on how good the kid is at wiping. There have been plenty of times when I've ordered a bath or shower based entirely on my knowledge of a child's dilettante bathroom habits. But this also serves as motivation to do better in that respect.

Yep, same here.

His head doesn't get nasty and sweaty because he's "very active." ok. He needs to shampoo his hair.

Every day!

Usually every day because it's just part of our routine. We do skip a night about once a week, particularly if we haven't been outside much (raining, whatever).

We have allergies in our house though, so it keeps it as a priority. 7 year old are certainly capable of getting smelly. I also think that 5 minute showers are something started early. Every bathing opportunity can't be lengthy. Sometimes you can relax in there and sometimes we gotta get in, soap/rinse and get out.

Their skin is too sensitive for lotion, they have eczema. We go to the dermatologist quarterly and they have a routine/medication they use on their full body after baths, otherwise they can use aquaphor as well. Still gets dry if we were to bathe them every day.
As far as their hair, we use Shea moisture/cantu products every day (detangler, leave in conditioner, curling cream, conditioning oil spray) so I think I've got that covered too.

We do every other day unless something nasty or sweaty happens.

I mean, there are lots of things that middle schoolers do that elementary schoolers don't. Shower, use deodorant, use face wash and acne cream, use dandruff shampoo, use maxi pads and tampons, not to mention set the alarm, make breakfast, do homework...I'm pretty sure there is some internal motivation to not be the smelly gross kid at school.

If you worked at an elementary school like I do… you’d have them shower or bathe daily!

Daily. I think it’s important to get into the habit at a young age so it isn’t so much of a battle when they hit the middle school years. It will be just what we always do. Hair is only 3x a week but definitely daily bathing. I also give serious side eye to those that don’t. Just gross.

My 7 yr old is a competitive gymnast and I’ve heard moms talking about skipping baths after 4 hr practices. I bet their bedding is so disgusting.
