I actually really get that. What I don’t get is the other half acting like our half doesn’t exist and pretending that “no one” in the Wootton cluster wants H, when in fact, many, many do. |
How about Gaithersburg Kids? They also want Crown. |
I’m curious why you think the rest of MOCO will be paying for it specifically. Realistically-taxes will probably go up either way. If MCPS says it has no money and still has more schools to fix I’m curious how all the sudden you think the county as a whole wouldn’t be responsible for fixing those other schools as well? At a certain point the amount they need is so high that they would never be able to get it to a point that taxpayers would be able to fund it all. So the fact that you somehow think that if Wootton doesn’t accept crown that all of our taxes are going to skyrocket simply because of that is kind of ridiculous. |
You didn’t answer the second part of the question. |
It is mostly Fields Road and Crown that want to go to Crown. That is entirely workable while moving Wootton. |
Alone? No. I don’t think it’s good for kids to get split off from their entire friend group. But I would absolutely be open to Stone Mill, Travilah, and Dufeuf going to crown with Crown/Gaithersburg kids. The issue is where would Cold Spring, Fallsmead and Lakewood go? We really don’t need 2 schools at this point. |
Option H, but swap Fields Road ES and Travilah ES. That solves a bunch of problems. |
How? Again, I don’t think it’s good for kids to move one feeder (Travilah in this case) alone out of their friend group. Take stone mill and Dufief with Travilah and you have a plan…what you don’t have is the money to operate 2 discrete schools with any level of variety of class options. |
Again, that’s your opinion - one that you clearly will not change no matter what facts and/ reasons are presented to you. So why do you keep posting the same thing over and over again in this thread. Go talk to the BOE. |
Ah, but those in favor of Option H don’t care about GHS, QO, etc kids. getting screwed out of the school they were promised. They want Crown for their own selfish needs (walk ability and increased property value). They also want to transplant Wootton into Crown to get the Wootton name. |
| Where does Frost Middle School factor into all this discussion about MCPS being unable to even remediate Wootton? Frost needs similar remediation. Where is the new school for them if MCPS can’t afford to remediate their building? |
This is the reason that either crown or Wootton needs to become a holding facility. Because you are correct, in addition to the high schools, we have several middle schools that need renovations and nowhere to send the students. So essentially, we have a Fallsmead/Lakewood vs Gaithersburg battle over whose school will become the holdout by facility. |
So MCPS spent $400M building a now under enrolled school that could have been used to fix a bunch of schools on a rotating basis over the next several years? |
PP here-I meant with the other 3 feeders that are for H. I think those 3 (and I am in one would be happier getting redistricted to a closer school to us rather than go to Crown if fixing Wootton is truly not an option. |
And they did it to keep from losing the land? |
