Netherlands has said the same. 50% under 50 so far. |
|
| It's hitting many under 50. This man is 45 and fighting for his life: https://www.nola.com/news/coronavirus/article_35531ff4-66d9-11ea-95b0-7797f71d169a.html |
Here's why its news: Those folks under 60 have complicating conditions and underlying health factors. But with limited capacity, the health care system judges them to be more likely to survive and thus to warrant an ICU slot. Its just math, sad but just math. Italy's in the same boat. You give the ICU bed to the 55 year old with asthma and not the 85 year old with emphysema. = decades of life saved |
40 year old with young kids get help. 65 year old grandma left to die. |
In a world with infinite resources, the above would not be true. We dont live in that world. All that said, I would want the 40 yo w kids to get the bed vs my 77 yo father., all other things being equal if it came to that. "He's lived his life". I'd say the same if I were older too. War is hell. |
Let’s hope we add are acting fast enough that we won’t be making those decisions - at least for most of the country. I fear it’s too late for Seattle. |

3,800 Leave Cruise Ship Unscreened After Former Passenger Tests Positive: Report |
Great example of how Capitalism is wonderful! |
A lot of study abroad students are coming home. I expected this. |
Why are people going on cruises still? A sneeze into the recirculated air and so many people can be infected. |
They look like poor desperate people! |
Study abroad? They had a freaking St Pattricks Day parade in New Orleans on Saturday! They basically held the Philadelphia war bonds parade. What a bunch of idiots that didn’t learn from history. Even Ireland cancelled their festivities! |
Twitter reports? Where is this information coming from? |
