Time for a mandatory quarantine. I don't want to have to self-select whether to say no to my kids when others want to hang out and have sleepovers. Too many in the community aren't taking this seriously.

The US seems to not the only ones with a hand sanitizer shortage; French hospitals are short and the people who brought you LV, Dior, etc are there to help.

"Luxury conglomerate LVMH said factories that produce perfume and makeup for brands like Christian Dior and Givenchy will be making hand sanitizer starting Monday. A lot of ppl are not. I think that is what the poster is saying. So many threads of ppl trying to get in a cruise and still trying to fly out to vacations. Correct. Remember that when they say “mild” they are including Pneumonia that does not require a respirator. In layman’s terms, there is nothing “mild” about pneumonia.

Just posted on another thread: recently discovered damage to central nervous system: in China they found virus in the cerebrospinal fluid of a male patient- he recovered, not sure about sequela
And we still do not know all about the possible long term damage.

This happened with Spanish flu. The book/movie Awakenings was about people with neurological defects belatedly caused by that. And I have a family member who died of it about 15 years after the flu. (Not sure how long the symptoms took to show up but he was totally disabled for years prior to death).

Q: anyone have any info about the potential for central nervous system damage mentioned above? That freaks me out.

The US had under 1700 confirmations at one point on Friday. It will be over 4000 when we wake up.

The doubling rate in Italy is 3. We seem to be outpacing that right now.

Doesn't sound like it. This is all the article says along those lines:

"As of Saturday, Nicaragua’s Ministry of Health has not reported any positive cases. The ministry said “epidemiological surveillance” has been implemented at airports and borders, and 19 hospitals have been equipped specifically to treat patients experiencing Covid-19 symptoms."

Actually, a report that half of critical care patients in France are under 60 is news. I don't recall any other country that has cited such an affect on people under 60.
