The raft of lawyers and money those boys had at their disposal would scare away the most determined public school girl. Kavanaugh's mother was a judge! She's being derided now in 2018! In 1981 she would have blasted into the ground if she tried to report those rich boys.

If the things she said happened actually happened, SOMEBODY would have gone to the police.

Don't you remember? This was back when kids who told were arrested for underage drinking. So no one told.

Elizabeth said she infrequently saw Brett Kavanaugh during this time – often at house parties. “He was cute. He was always nice,” she said. One night she ran across an apparently inebriated Brett Kavanaugh and things went differently then. Previously, he had always been nice to her. “ But not that night. He was drunk. He was obnoxious and crude. I had a friend with me and we left. His football buddies were laughing at us. Maybe they were laughing at him, but I didn’t take it that way and they didn’t do anything to keep him from being a jerk.”

From that point on Elizabeth said she steered clear of Kavanaugh and didn’t see any more sexually explicit behavior because, “I didn’t want to be around those guys.” She was not present at the party described by Ford – or doesn’t believe she was. She also said she never saw Kavanaugh assault anyone.

But, from her experience, she said she has no problem believing Dr. Ford’s allegations and said Ford should be heard without politics being involved. “I don’t think that’s possible today. I’m afraid for my daughter. How do we make this less politicized? People are criticizing her for coming forward, but she moved to California. He wasn’t in her life. Now he’s everywhere and could be part of the Supreme Court. It was just high school, but that kind of trauma lasts and no one should be judged for coming forward as she did. It took great courage. Maybe he genuinely doesn’t remember what happened because he blacked out. He deserves to be heard too. He shouldn’t be convicted without being heard either.”

I grew up in a similar community, in another East Coast city, around the same time. This rings true and I am surprised more people on here haven't said similar things as the person in this article did, given some of you must have grown up in affluent MoCo towns/schools around this time. Not about BK per se, but about what it was like. I got here in the 90s and I remember hearing lots of Beach Week stories, for example.
Cmon homegrown 80s Red Line folks, spill the beans already.

Plenty of us on this thread have talked about that, we keep getting shut down.

And, this is why you believe the allegations, even if they are false. Because YOU have experienced such things. Because it “rings true” to YOU.
Forget that there is no evidence of these allegations, since you can remember these “stories,” this one MUST be true.

WHAT EVIDENCE DO YOU WANT THEM TO HAVE??? PLEASE CLARIFY.

And don't say witnesses. Any witnesses are friends of the rapist, hence the rape not being stopped. So why would you believe them anyway?

Let’s see. This first one.... a date. It’s tough to PROVE you weren’t there when you don’t have a date to show where you were. And, maybe a friend that can corroborate. Her friend that was there has said she doesn’t know Kavanaugh and was not at a party where he was present.

Second one - witnesses at the alleged party. And, just to point out that the accuser has told others she couldn’t be sure it was Kavanaugh AND could not find others to “remember” the story.

This last one is easy... If these allegations are true, at all, there must be a police report with specifics on it. Ten parties? Rape lines? C’mon - somebody of conscience would have reported this. I cannot believe that NOBODY said ANYTHING to anyone in authority. This one makes no sense at all.

Having grown up in DMV and knowing a friend was raped by two, another by 1, another girl raped while passed out via a tool. ALL whispered about, talked, rumors etc. NO ONE ever told their parents. No one talked about with their own friends. One just tried to pretend it never happened it was SO SHAMEFUL. I look back now and ask where were our parents? What about the teachers who heard the whispers? Why did no one speak of it? The only talk was Slut, Whore, She's an easy lay, etc. The guys were treated like kings.

Why have hearings? The GOP will ram Kavanaugh through regardless of what is said. This is a party that supported prdophiles like Moore and Hastert.

God is my witness, if Mark Judge testifies under oath that none of this ever happened, I will stand down. But WHERE IS HE??? The one person who could back Brett up?

Anonymous wrote:Honestly, G-Prep in those days was a school for rich boys that are dumb, often violent jocks who couldn't get into Landon or St. Albans. Of course there were exceptions, but sorry, it's true. Of course, apparently, Kavanaugh was smart and connected enough to get into Yale. But come on, in the 70s and early 80s that school was a towel snapping locker room. Everyone knew this.

Yeah, regardless of BK's history with girls and women, I just want someone smarter on my Supreme Court. We can do better. Way better.

Grassley would never allow Judge to testify.

Do you know what "spiking the punch" means?

The punch was spiked??? I went to a lot of high school and college parties, and on don't ever remember mom setting out a punch bowl. This wasn't the Enchantment under the Sea dance! These were parties! If there was a barrel of red juice there, you could be damn sure it had alcohol. Nobody was sneaking a flask of vodka into the punch bowl.

In high school, in the late 80's I went to a UMD party and there, indeed, was a punch bowl. I took one sip and my face felt numb within moments. I was with 4 other high schoolers and the college kids didn't mind us being there until one of my friends lit a joint. It was like "get these h.s. potheads outta here!". No way we were going to drink any more of their rape juice.

This so true! There was a iron clad wall between pot smokers and drinkers. The drinkers were generally the violent jocks and the pot smokers were considered to be dirty, immoral, liberal, lawbreakers. It was ridiculous.

+1 in my school (all girls catholic in pmac) there was a girl who the rumor was did e with her mom and that her mom dated a guy the girl had just broken up with. She was known as a crazy ho, she was also very mean which probably didn't help her case but regardless, in context and retrospect holy hell someone should have talked to a parent or teacher about her. And there were others, but when you're in high school its like you're in a different world with a different justice system beneath adults.

I told my parents about a girl that had an eating disorder and I remember it feeling like the bravest thing I've ever done, and also the wrongest thing, crossing that adult/teen line. Also what is really going unsaid here is that there would have been no point, even today upper class catholic school boys in pmac rarely if EVER face legal consequences because their parents are rich and connected and influential. And that is a trueism that exists in microcosms alllll around the country, not just in DC, young boys full of promise protected by their communities.

This new "They would have gone to the police!" argument is not accounting for how these things usually go.

Do people believe Weinstein's multiple victims, who were victims for years and who (except for one) went to the police? And when that one went, what happened? Nothing.

Do people believe Larry Nassar's student victims, who were victims of behaviors that went on for 20 years being little known to the public?

Do people believe the victims of Catholic priests, who barely told anyone, let alone the police?

What about how, in pretty much all of the above circumstances, other people knew vaguely or knew details, and THOSE people also didn't come forward as having this information??

Anyone has any info on this:

This is no longer about Kavanaugh. It is about questioning how much evidence, or lack thereof, is necessary to convict someone. Are mere allegations enough to bring down a SCOTUS nominee, or anyone for that matter? Or, do we demand some type of credible evidence? CREDIBLE evidence.

And, to those of you who say this is not a “court of law,” you are correct. However, that does not mean that the standard in our country is no longer innocent until PROVEN guilty. The standard is that there must be some evidence of misconduct or a crime.

One more thing... if Democrats are successful at preventing Kavanaugh from getting a SCOTUS seat, don’t think they will stop there. They will go after him on the Court of Appeals. You KNOW that to be the case. They are ruthless and dirty.

So there's a vast liberal conspiracy of women who are perjuring themselves in order to sink the nomination </sarcasm>, but the one person who could clear Brett's name refuses to testify and Grassley refuses to call him.

This country is so f-ed up.
