They were just doing the stupid sh¡t that teens do. They were messing with someone to take the bike. Doesn’t seem very far fetched at all.

Why'd they film it, though?

They thought it would be a hilarious clip for all 400 of their followers then it got out of hand. Still really strange that none of them have been identified yet, but they probably closed ranks and are trying to ride it out. Honestly, they pretty much have … only the Monique lady is still bleating on about this, everyone else on the left and the right seems to have moved on to looking for the next outrage du jour.

I see it differently, especially because I once had two (adult in my case) black men tell me I was "about to go viral" when I politely asked them to turn of their car stereos outside my home at 2am... instead of just calling the police from the safety of my bedroom like my born city-dwelling arse learned from earliest childhood and should never have stopped doing!! It is a thing to use video as a weapon against white women.

My husband and I were talking about this incident recently and he made the point that if someone ever tries to mess with me I should just walk away. In large part due to safety but also because this type of craziness. He said assume someone could be filming. Don’t say anything at all (even innocuous or asking for help) because things will get blown out of context. Don’t cry because people will make accusations of weaponizing whiteness. I am a petite white woman (early 40s) and definitely feel like I have no power to fight back on anything or else be potentially doxxed and called a Karen.

I realize black people (especially men) have had to live like this a long time in which their actions are scrutinized and used against them. So it is what it is for me now. But I really don’t think the current culture is a move toward equality. It feels more like the pendulum swinging out of anger. I hope we come to a more reasonable place soon, but I’m not so sure.

It's interesting that the pendulum swings from scapegoating POC for everything to scapegoating white women for everything. It's funny how that pendulum swings right around white men and barely grazes them. It's almost like, I don't know... did rich white guys build this pendulum? Could that be it?

I agree with all if this. I didn't "go viral" because I stayed very calm and matter of fact, but that was also the end of my experiment with not calling police immediately and exposing myself to danger by attempting to reason with people doing antisocial things that are causing a problem for my family.

I think it is more likely that people looking to channel anger don't believe they can target white men. But no one likes a middle-aged woman. Easy target, and the Revolution demands *someone's* blood.

Did anyone see the latest? The “boy’s” sister posted a video trying to defend him, but just dug him further in. Claimed that the bike was “in his possession” - but he had already docked it from a previous ride. Then the nurse got on the bike he claimed was “his” (despite the fact that he docked it) and rented it.

That doesn’t make much sense as you describe it. Do you have a link?

I need to stop reading Monique Judge’s twitter. She is an absolutely toxic psychopath.

Ha ha thanks. None of this makes sense.

It really does not makes sense, because why would he dock a bike he intended to continue using? That would just cost extra money unnecessarily. It would be cheaper to keep it undocked and pay for the extra time than to re-dock and pay the whole fee again.

She's awful. It's not even clear what this shows? She also cites "Tizzy" who is a known Twitter grifter. These people are a menace.

If the sister (or the guy himself) have an argument to make, why is it presented like this via weirdly edited Tik Toks where people keep adding their own commentary. It's like it's intentionally confusing. If he has receipts and a story, just say "here are my receipts, here's what happened." Ugh.

No, because neither of those things occurred.

The sister’s video makes a big deal about there being other bikes, but perhaps this was the only electric bike there, which is why she told them she was pregnant before the video starts.

But yeah, why would he ride a bike he intended to keep using up to the docks and actually dock it?

I think you get free unlocks if you are a member, but you get charged per minute if it is undocked. But it’s not “in your possession” once you dock it, obviously.
