Except no one here was advocating for keeping black and brown people “in their place”. Some people may be concerned about the possibility of quotas over merit however. Things like TJ ending a race neutral entrance exam etc. which actually ends up discriminating against Asian people, but you go ahead and throw out your nonsense accusation of racism.

Removing barriers to allow other groups to have greater representation is not, in and of itself, "discrimination against Asian people."

...and by "removing barriers" what you mean of course is removing merit based admissions.

I have been coaching this track team the last few years. It is of course open to any kid who wants to run regardless of ability or experience and we have a good mix of kids.

I can't help but notice though, some kids and families take it a heck of a lot more seriously than others, and they are overwhelmingly the black kids/families.

They don't just show up and go through the motions. If I say go home and stretch, I don't have to wonder if they will. If I say "try to get in some solo workouts over the long weekend," they are the same ones that contact me to ask exactly what they should be doing, and then tell me how it went afterwards. Shoot, they run in their free time. They invent extra workouts and invite their friends. Their parents read about running and try to give their kids guidance.

Guess who the top runners are year after year? Should I try to hold them back?

What should I do to try to bring up the kids who don't care and treat the practices like a punishment and whose parents I have never seen?

Oh, and replace "track team" with "math club" and replace "black" with "Asian."

That's an interesting point. Do we find that black people tend to have better representation in sports where there are objective victory criteria (e.g. score the most goals, cross the line first, throw the furthest) versus those with subjective victory criteria (e.g. sports with judges)?

Well, the 2021 US Olympic Rifle Team is 100% white. You would think Blacks would be better represented in a shooting sport.

Lol, this thread has some real gems. The justice warriors are getting destroyed on this thread.

Did something change? Have they finally figured out that diversity and inclusion (affirmative action) is a racist policy?

When I taught 3rd grade, the father of my one Asian student asked for an extra math text book to keep at home so they could practice math. The other white more affluent parents complained if I assigned math homework on a game night, like for soccer or some extra curricular league. I had no idea of the schedule. A white family took their son out of class for a week to attend the Workd Series in another state. I could go on and on.

Well, you have to admit it is tough when people start asking you really hard questions like, "why is discriminating based on race good when you do it?"

The fact that this thread is still popular on a forum that caters to the DMV area - which is one of the most liberal parts of the country - clearly shows the DE&I stuff will create problems for Democrats in 2022/2024.

Maybe in PG County, HUD, HHS and HBCU

Homework doesn't actually do that much good. So, I question your teaching methods.

It's evil to keep illegal aliens from swarming our borders but we should forcibly displace millions of people to countries where they don't speak the language? Yikes.
