Spirit Coach

Where are all the "new" celebrity and local DC investors? What do they have to say and are they staying on this Titanic or grabbing a life boat?

To the last comment - it is the new investors leading the changes. Nothing takes place overnight.

You have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about. The investors let the players be up front

Now what has happened to Tom Torres. He was associated with Spirit, started a womens (pro, semi pro) team Nova Fc and has now been removed after one summer. What is going on??

Since you’re posing the question..why don’t you tell us your analysis.

My analysis is that management appears to be dysfunctional on multiple levels and has been for years.

They opted not to do due diligence on Burke and when concerns were brought to their attention anyway, chose to ignore them.

This is a business problem, but let's pretend it's about "wokeness."

Be objective. Is that all you took from the article?

I’m not saying you’re wrong. But there seems to be more in play

Think the bolded pretty much covers that.

But having worked at another organization that chose to overlook negative input during the hiring process, I've seen it end badly, and that's exactly what happened here.

The strange thing was he did not have a resume. Club travel soccer coaching in NoVa is very far removed from college or pro coaching.

But Burke and Best were buddies, and Best coached Baldwin's kid, and this is how the boys' network has operated for decades. Only people are demanding better now.

Sounds like Baldwin took a chapter from the Danny Snyder “how to” book of sport franchise ownership.
