Sounds like Baldwin took a chapter from the Danny Snyder “how to” book of sport franchise ownership.

What does some 19/20 year old know about the real world? That's a very ignorant article. Owners cannot resign, they sell or relinquish control. Why would anyone walk from equity? I am sure he is negotiating to dilute his share and interests perhaps but RESIGNING IS NOT POSSIBLE. Someone needs to educate that little kid

Point? Guess he was guilty of the illegal visa schemes

That article said he was neither charged nor implicated in the visa scheme case. The Athletic has a story on this, but I don’t have a subscription.

This is really exciting watching all this drama.

How do they keep Michele in the dark? She could buy the entire NWSL. These guys are absolute morons. The optics are terrible.

Do the owners of Spirit make any money from owning the team?

Investors that bought stakes in the club do not have have it in their agreement that they have to be informed or approve. Follow Kang around and tell me she is acting in the best interests of the club - or tell me if a man would be allowed to do what she does

Not yet - they are working hard to keep the team afloat and invest because they believe in women’s soccer. All the haters that hate white men will post negatively to my comment but you’ll never convince me otherwise

How can you say that when the "lead" investor is old time friends of Olson, do you really think that he did not "recommend" and make sure he got to be President of the club? Please........these investors are trying to stop the s--- storm that is coming.

Imagine this - the team would fold if it were not for a lead investor that pulled people in including sponsorships. Then where would WS be?

I wrote something on the visa schemes a while back. It's long, but you can skim and get the gist of it. I have one paragraph on Holly.

https://medium.com/ranting-soccer-dad/global-premier-soccer-sky-blue-the-boston-breakers-and-a-legal-tempest-76e4e10ca396

The case has a long, long way to go.

The Equalizer also has a piece on Holly's departure that mentions another controversy -- he started dating a player at Sky Blue (now Gotham FC). And not just any player. It was Christie Rampone.

And there's more on Holly and other NWSL controversies (including the Spirit) here:

People are interested in clicks and reporters judged by how much ad revenue their articles bring in. Try to leak the truth to a reporter like Goff or others that doesn’t fit the negative narrative and they won’t run with it. The truth is more balanced than people think - it’s not all “bad Baldwin” and the players don’t dislike him or Richie. There is a large contingent of players that think Kang is inappropriate and harasses them. They just want to play and win.

Try to run an article about female players annoyed with a female owner/investor and it will get buried

When "journalism" becomes advocacy. Post eagerly serving as mouthpiece for coordinated effort to influence ownership fight going on with Spirit. It not surprising that a league created and built mostly by the investment of men is now the target of women hoping to gain control of the league. More power to them, I guess. The league can't exist on its own, so maybe they should put their money where their mouth is with these franchises and see if it can fly on its own. Guessing it won't be such a smooth flight as people seem to think.

Thanks for your input, Steve.

Attention people: Kang not only hosted dinners but showered players with gifts. As an owner - these gifts are inappropriate and likely compensatory. If someone is at the max of the salary cap, this would surpass and be reason for her dismissal for negligence. Kang is absolutely using the post as a mouthpiece. Try to send a journalist a tip in the opposite direction (towards the truth) and they dismiss and refuse to follow up.

Has anyone heard from anyone directly besides Kaya? 8 anonymous players? Interesting that the players I know wish Kang would stop talking to them and just let them play and settle things on her own.

Anonymous
Despite Kaya’s tweet that she’s glad she left the organization, she was let go for being a locker room cancer to veterans, being out of shape and uncoachable. FACTS

otherwise why go play for a 3rd division German team and now be out of the game? Haha
