It might not be 50% right away, but it will trend in that direction. I enjoy how the Key parents with their $100k+ annual PTA budget try to frame themselves as the poor downtrodden underdogs.

What planet are you living on. The FARM student rate is significantly less at Innovation this year, and gentrification is taking care of the rest. No amount of affordable housing is going to take place of all of the garden apartments razed for multimillion dollar super story apartment and condo buildings.

There was a lot of discussion that the FARM rate for Key would be high and even higher after Queen St project. How do you know the FARM rate for next year, as we haven't had any classes yet and the date used for prediction won't show how many students have been leaving for private etc (and there are a LOT in LV leaving for private)

They are also going to redevelop Marbella in the next 5-10 years, which will add affordable units and kids. I realize there’s nothing I can say to convince the PPs that Innovation is going to be higher FARMs than they think. The student generation rate for those expensive high rises is very low but for affordable housing it’s very high. Check back in 5 years and you will see.

Falls Church just renamed George Mason and TJ to random names. George Mason, TJ, GW, etc. are probably the most influential virginians ever. Saying they were racist asshats is just as bad as saying that they were absolute heroes. Either way is missing the point. Ghandi was a racist, that doesn't change the fact that he did amazing things.

They are literally spending millions redesigning the county seal because people find it offensive. I agree that it looks like toothpaste -- what a waste of time and resources during a year when we literally thousands of people in our county are having trouble just feeding themselves.

And you saying I've internalized white supremacy (when I do not have a drop of white heritage) is hilarious. Thanks for the laugh.

Oh no. You poor snowflake.

But, I kind of don't see the point in all the renaming efforts and changing the county logo or removing books from libraries. George Mason, Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, etc. were our country's founding fathers. I'm not sure we should be judging them by today's standards or saying that they aren't worthy of our respect. Yes we shouldn't blindly say they were great people, but at the same time, we shouldn't remove all references to them just because we can. Same with changing the county seal, its a waste of time and energy right now. I bet we are about a year away from renaming Arlington period. Arlington is too woke for its own good sometimes.

"Too woke"?

TO EHN: I have to thank you. Every time you speak, your words restore my confidence that the misguided and intolerant will almost always out themselves. You’re defending the statues? And blaming their removal on CRT? Even I thought you were smarter than that. If you really are a liberal like you claim, maybe you should take a step back and consider why so many people “misunderstand” your intentions.

Wait … Is EHN defending confederate statues? Are you kidding me? Ugh…. I saw her post oN APE that she didn’t want anyone make her kids feel bad about being white and just eye rolled because if she things that what anti racism education is she is a lost cause.

When did she post that on APE? I only saw her post something about CRT and comment that she hopes APE doesn't become like Loudon...irony much? To APE's credit, I haven't seen any crazy about CRT despite attempts to liken them to Loudon county.

sometime yesterday:
"I do know that I do not agree on removing Laura Ingalls Wilder's books from schools, or pulling down some of the statues that have been removed recently, because those figures were part of history at one time, all in the name of "CRT.""

So she’s a champion of all the Lost Causes, including the Confederacy? WTF. Told ya she’s no Democrat.

The fixation on her in this forum is bizarre. She seems to have some compulsion about posting and inserting herself into drama, but the obsessive comments here are so out of proportion. They are also cherry picking her comments as she has made others condemning the parents in Loudon and distancing herself from anti-CRT. Shes not a liberal progressive but no reason attack for “not being a DEM.” That criticism is also just so yuck.

Because she is relentless with her disgusting comments and lack of self-awareness. She should just crawl back into her hole.

The existence of people who disagree with you seems to bother you a lot. To the point of using dehumanizing rhetoric. You realize you could just block her, right?

Don’t try to normalize her behavior. It’s not a “disagreement”.

She pollutes multiple email listservs.

First of all, being a person of color doesn't mean you haven't internalized the messages of white supremacy.

Also, you are arguing against doing things people aren't doing. No one is saying we can't talk about white guys, just that they need to be fully understood.

Is anyone removing Little House books from libraries? I remember changes that were intended to, again, understand Laura Ingalls Wilder more fully as a product of her time and place, and I think the name of an award was changed.

I also don't see how people can say "It's not fair to judge the Founders by current standards" and say "The Founders were heroes and we must admire and follow them."

I think the current county seal looks like a toothbrush with a big squirt of toothpaste on it.

I love this new type of discourse. White people telling non-white people that they are racist against their own ppl. Most hilarious thing was all the non-white working class that voted for Eric Adams in NYC while the woke affluent white ppl voted for either Garcia or Wiley. Apparently all the POCs that voted for Adams were racist against themselves lol lol.

"POC" isn't a single people. The top PP could be Asian for all we know.

Thanks for educating me on what a POC is. Many of us so called “POC”s find the category offensive since you like lumping us all together as if we are all the same. Now that doesn’t change the fact that an overwhelming number of minorities (specifically working class) voted against the so called progressive candidate in NYC.

Also so what if PP is Asian? It doesn’t change the fact that you, presumably a white person, lecturing a non-white person, over what it is and is not racist. And it also doesn’t change the fact that you, again presumably a white person, thinks that you can speak for African Americans, Hispanics etc. I love for example when white ppl insist on calling us Latinos, Latinx even though the majority of Latinos do not use the word Latinx and fine it absolutely ridiculous. By the way I’m progressive but nothing the fake DiAngelo or Kendi progressive but more of the Cornell West type. Notice how affluent woke white ppl probably like yourself didn’t seem to care about how Harvard treated Cornell West.

Yes and I know lots of typos. I’m pregnant and half asleep. Hopefully the grammar police (again mostly white) won’t come and attack me.

There are multiple people posting. I commented on the dumb "against their own people" comment.

The only thing we know for sure is that 100% of the people who use the term "woke" are DBs.
