If you weren't already crazy, having someone control all of the decisions in your life would certainly make you crazy. If she is competent enough to work and not on drugs, it seems like having a conservator is like enslavement for her.
I do think the court would have to have some sort of mental health evaluation where Brittany is asked about how she would handle the finances or who she would hire, etc. But, if she is able to describe a plan, and she can pass a drug test, there isn't any reason she shouldn't be allowed to control her own destiny. |
Right? She says an IUD was implanted in her against her will. Damn. How can she be competent enough to perform onstage for millions but not competent enough to make her own reproductive decisions? |
+1. Even if she makes poor decisions and loses all of her millions, those should be her decisions to make. No one else’s. |
| Is this poor woman living in America or under the Taliban? |
| This is disgusting and shameful. I blame both parents. I feel sick after reading that. They all used her. |
| When will we know the judge's decision? |
| This is so disturbing! |
| No one is putting Johnny Depp in a conservator ship for losing all his money. She made it it’s her to handle poorly if she wants. This is a travesty |
Fair point! This poor woman. I hope she gets out of this situation and has some true happiness in her life. |
| No decision. She needs to petition te court to end it. |
Conservatorship and guardianships are sadly too easily to obtain in this country. Many people get swept up in a system during a bad time in their life and have their rights stripped away and then can't get them back. Even worse if you have money b/c there are people who are all too happy to keep you in that state to make $$$ off of you. |

We don’t know what her mental illness is.
Too many people here have no experience with schizophrenia. That’s not to say the conservatorship shouldn’t be changed. But we do not know whether if, left to her own devices, she’d be sleeping on the street. Again, unless you know well someone with schizophrenia please be cautious about how you comment. Why does she not want to be evaluated? Can she not sit for a few hours of the eval? If she can’t do that, how can she manage her own life? Maybe she’s fine. But we don’t know. |
If you read her statement, she has had multiple evals and is in mandated therapy multiple times a week. She feels like she's constantly being evaluated and it's traumatic. Her meds were changed without apparent reason (to lithium!) when she pushed back on something related to her show. |
My guess would be her conservator would argue that a random boyfriend would impregnate her with more kids for child support/trust funds and her conservation team didn't want them messing with the money (read: his inheritance). That's exactly what happened with Kevin Federline who is drawing $20,000/month from her estate for the full-time care of her sons. I mean - I'm curious if the sealed court documents have intelligence/competency level for Britney. Like you would for autistic children who protections by the state from abuse. That said - she sounds sane and perfectly understands what they've done to her, so I don't know. |
