I've been very respectful towards you. Me basing my assumptions that you never played sports, especially contact sports, is based on your lack of understanding with "low man wins". Its a real thing and its based on science and endorsed by the best trainers and coaches. Most former athletes understand and know this. So either you are a former athlete who is ignoring this to try in order to drive home a point, or you don't know about it. Now, you say you were an athlete so I'm going to assume you know about it. So now I'm left to assume that you're a parent of a taller kid and want to drive home that your kid is better positioned to advance to a more elite level based on current rosters and therefore..........whatever your end game is. Now, with that said. Low man wins is a fact. Its how power is generated. Its how explosiveness is generated. Its how strength and driving power is maximized. Not just football. In all sports. |
Guess what team won the ACC tournament 2020? ...Florida...LOL 2020 ACC Women’s Soccer All-Tournament Team Clara Robbins, Florida State (MVP) 5’-7” Jaelin Howell, Florida State 5’-7” Jenna Nighswonger, Florida State 5’-4” Malia Berkely, Florida State 5’-8” Cristina Roque, Florida State 5’-7” Claudia Dickey, North Carolina gk Brianna Pinto, North Carolina 5’-5” Emily Fox, North Carolina 5’-6” Sophie Jones, Duke 5’-5” Diana Ordonez, Virginia 5’-11” Alexa Spaanstra, Virginia 5’-5” Only one player 5’-4” or below and this is a year was a year with a lot of short(5’-4” and below) player. Not a typical year. |
That’s fine. I will give you the benefit of the doubt on being respectful. By the way, I never mentioned being an athlete - as what I did back in the day doesn’t matter. There is no point in arguing with you. The evidence for me is all around you. It’s in the giant NFL lineman that have incredible leverage and strength that throw smaller men around like toys. Yes they are all tall. Over 6 feet. All of them. It’s in the rosters of all pro sports that show on average athletes are taller and bigger than average except for a few sports where fast rotation matters most like gymnastics. You just refuse to accept reality. Can’t help you there. |
There are a lot of factors that go into being a lineman. But frankly, the biggest factor is pure weight. The verage weight of a NFL lineman is about 320lbs. There just are not that many bodies that are both 320lbs AND athletic under 6'. You need a six foot frame to carry the mass necessary to move another man and also be able to move themselves. 320lbs of pure muscle on a 5'7 frame simply would lack the needed flexibility to even tie their own shoes. But, if they did exist and could move like their taller counterpart YES they would make an excellent lineman. The problem is, that person simply does not exist. |
Exactly what are the advantages of size in soccer when the ball and the game is played on the ground? |
Yes, lineman are big. Just like CB and Goalies. Its part of the game. Running backs in comparison are not. Again, position specific. Different body types different advantages. A spiker in volleyball is tall. A setter in comparisons is not. There is a reason why defenders, in both basketball and soccer, bend down low. There is a reason why some of the best attackers in the world are on the shorter end. (Much like Running backs). Shorter strides, quickness and ability to quickly change direction is so.e of those reasons. I'm sorry if that goes against your beliefs. These are facts. |
Reach, Mass, Strength, Leverage. And soccer is not just played on the ground. The goal is actually 8 feet tall. Sometimes the ball is in the air. This has been covered. |
5 within an inch or two of 5'4. So out of the 10 players, 5 are 5'4 - 5'6. Good to know. ...........Inch .................................Two inch Thats the advantage youre talking about. This is goofy |
This has been disproved 100 times over now. Reach, for goalies, yes...nothing else. Please tell us how height makes you more massive, strong, and have better leverage in the game of soccer. Lets hash this out. |
We covered leverage. Height doesn't have leverage. Strength, hmmmmm, lots of room in there for many body types. Reach, sure, if you're a keeper then catch radius would count but not sure beyond stabbing at the ball where "reach" comes into play. Mass, hmmmm, what is the right composition? I mean, one still has to run A LOT. One still must be quick. How much "mass" would a player need to carry before it is to much? I've never seen huge soccer players like a DK Metcalf kinda huge. Most are built but are very low body fat with lean muscle not super bulked up. Considering many of the worlds historically greatest players were 5'7" or less it begs the question what are the advantages of size in soccer? |
It’s cool. Ignore the heading on soccer, corners, crosses and situations with reach. Cool |
| I think the short parents believe we are arguing about foosball. The ball stays on the ground. First to 15 wins. |
Relax, thats why Goalies and CBs are tall. Sometimes even the Defensive Mid. Timing and winning space is critical important in this as well.it not all about jumping high |
Class act. |

5-1 to 5'3 is short
5'4 - 5'5 is average 5' 6 - 5'7 is slightly above 5'8 and above is tall Most offensive players are average to slightly above. Convo over. |
