Alex Morgan is way faster than Lavell. That’s why Morgan is the striker. Messi is not fast either. Plenty of taller faster strikers. That’s why they those two shorter players as good as they are, are not strikers. They don’t have the speed. Because they are short. That’s also why strikers are almost always tall. For the speed. |
| Lavell and Messi also don’t have the physicality and strength to play striker. The big tall CBs would knock them off the ball. |
Lewandowski is not very fast but is too 3 striker in the world |
You're trolling. I hope so atleast |
Has to be |

I didn’t think a few inches seems that much but M Pugh and R Lavelle (5’4”) seems much smaller than A Morgan and J Ertz (5’7”) on the field.
Maybe it’s their playing style, their bulk or both. |
Ok, and they don't play striker and yet they are still dominant players. Different positions require different skill sets that can be reinforced with physical attributes. |
| Best female forwards of all times #1Marta, #2 Mia Hamm. They are not big. |
No Messi is(was) extremely fast and quick. He has lost a step or two but is still fast. Lavelle is fast also. |
They have only been heavily investing in the women's side in the last decade. But not to dig up a old discussion, feel free to watch Barcelona U15's vs PDA's U15's from last year for a sneak preview of what is yet to come. |
No need to watch youth teams. I doesn't translate. Our YNTs do not peforme like our USWNT. Just watch the USWNT vs Spain in the last "She believes" Cup. Its apparent. Couple that performance with the World Came and its easy to see. |
You can look at a team that is near the end of their peak or take a look at what types of players and they style that will be faced will look like moving forward. The development cycle for the current teams is nearly 20 years old now. Projecting USWNT dominance through the 20's based this squad is a poor way to predict future results. |
At the national team level, it is about results. What have the Spanish women won? Nothing. Not at the senior level. Not at the U20 level. Yeah, they did win 1 World Cup at the U17 level. But then again, North Korea won 4 youth World Cups - 2016 and 2006 U20 and 2016 and 2008 U17 - and look at how well that success translated to their senior team. I don't know about you, but maybe we should wait until Spain actually wins anything before anointing them the best women's team in the world. Right now, they may not even crack the top 5 best women's teams in Western Europe. |
If the current USMNT roster stays in place for the 2023 World Cup 15 players will be over 30 years old with 7 of those being 35 and older including one 40 year old among the group. |
