Seriously. If Trump calls himself a Christian, then I’m a zebra with five legs. |
Denying one of the central tenets, namely Jesus's divinity and the resurection means you aren't actually practicing Christianity, if you are denying who Christ is. I haven't stated at all what I personally believe. |
+1. That image of him holding up the Bible for the cameras, without even reading from it, was ridiculous. But if he had opened the Bible up, he wouldn't have known where to find an inspiring passage. Best to just wave it around, I guess. |
Focus, people. We're talking about Trump's invasion of St. John's for a photo op. If you want to discuss divinity and resurrection, take it to the Religion forum. |
Matthew 22:36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. |
True. And the Episcopal Church is now, has always been and always will be clear that they think Christ is divine. It's the central tenant of Christianity. The moment you let it go you're just not a Christian. Episcopalians are quite clear on this. If you claim not, you'll really have to convince me. |
I find it amazing that the White House staff didn't think to *ask* to go to the Church, or *ask* the protestors to move.
You know, they might have done so peacefully. You know, instead of gassing clergy members and the BLM medic station at the church. What idiot thought this up? |
Trump didn't ask to grab pussy, either. These are all takers and users. The evangelicals simply haven't learned, they/we are all the fodder. |
There was no gassing. We don't believe you. There would have been video all over the place of people getting treated with water for tear gas in the eyes. You can stop with the lies. Park Police statement: https://www.nps.gov/subjects/uspp/6_2_20_statement_from_acting_chief_monahan.htm The United States Park Police (USPP) is committed to the peaceful expression of First Amendment rights. However, this past weekend’s demonstrations at Lafayette Park and across the National Mall included activities that were not part of a peaceful protest, which resulted in injuries to USPP officers in the line of duty, the destruction of public property and the defacing of memorials and monuments. During four days of demonstrations, 51 members of the USPP were injured; of those, 11 were transported to the hospital and released and three were admitted. Multiple agencies assisted the USPP in responding to and quelling the acts of destruction and violence over the course of the weekend in order to protect citizens and property. On Monday, June 1, the USPP worked with the United States Secret Service to have temporary fencing installed inside Lafayette Park. At approximately 6:33 pm, violent protestors on H Street NW began throwing projectiles including bricks, frozen water bottles and caustic liquids. The protestors also climbed onto a historic building at the north end of Lafayette Park that was destroyed by arson days prior. Intelligence had revealed calls for violence against the police, and officers found caches of glass bottles, baseball bats and metal poles hidden along the street. To curtail the violence that was underway, the USPP, following established policy, issued three warnings over a loudspeaker to alert demonstrators on H Street to evacuate the area. Horse mounted patrol, Civil Disturbance Units and additional personnel were used to clear the area. As many of the protestors became more combative, continued to throw projectiles, and attempted to grab officers’ weapons, officers then employed the use of smoke canisters and pepper balls. No tear gas was used by USPP officers or other assisting law enforcement partners to close the area at Lafayette Park. Subsequently, the fence was installed. Throughout the demonstrations, the USPP has not made any arrests. The USPP will always support peaceful assembly but cannot tolerate violence to citizens or officers or damage to our nation’s resources that we are entrusted to protect. |
You are missing the forest for the trees. |
The photo op on the way to the photo op...
|
They are liars. Smoke canisters are used to conceal your own movements or location (such as when setting up equipment.) i.e., a "smoke screen." If you're going to conduct a baton charge the last thing you want is smoke, because your personnel may run into each other. You want to see the target clearly. They are liars. They used tear gas. They teargassed a non-violent crowd in a public space so Trump could waddle over and have his photo taken in front of a closed church, holding a bible like he'd never seen one before. |
Amazing how religious iconography scares people. |
Law enforcement partners..lol you mean the new palace guard? |
