Trying again with his inspiring quote.

A reporter asked him if it was his Bible and he said, “It's a Bible."
“We have a great country,” he said. “That's my thoughts. Greatest country in the world."

You know there is no bible that's "his" bible. He probably hasn't opened one up in decades. It would upset him too much to read some of that Jesus stuff.

Seriously. If Trump calls himself a Christian, then I’m a zebra with five legs.

Evangelicals are simply an insult to the Christian faith!!

Evangelicals are not an insult to be h Christian faith. But they do have a clear choice now. Do they actually believe in the values they espouse.?

A church was attacked and innocents were injured. There was a freaking calvary charge. It was before curfew. It was done for a photo op. There was no prayer. There was no reflection. The sacred was defiled.

Evangelicals don't care. The main reason evangelicals broke away from mainline denominations is because the mainline churches stopped supporting bigotry. The rise of evangelical churches has been a direct backlash against mainline churches supporting civil rights, women's rights, and gay rights.

Some of which they will argue are against biblical teachings. The protestant reformation of Martin Luther was similiar in some aspects.

The previous head of the Episcopial Church for example is famous for denying Jesus's divinity, even Rt. Rev Budde is actually on the record for saying the same thing. In addition to the Episcopal church's standing on a number of social issues that directly contravene the bible. You can't really be selective on what you believe.

Ha ha. I bet you don't really believe Jesus's call to give up your worldly possession to follow him and get into heaven. I bet you don't believe that it is harder for a rich man to enter heaven than for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle. (Matthew 19:16-28). I bet you don't really believe in turning the other cheek rather than demanding an eye for an eye. (Matthew 5:38-40).

I bet you also don't truly believe in Matthew 5:31. Certainly Trump and Newt Gingrich don't.

You may say you believe these biblical tenets, but I doubt you practice them.

Selective much?

Denying one of the central tenets, namely Jesus's divinity and the resurection means you aren't actually practicing Christianity, if you are denying who Christ is. I haven't stated at all what I personally believe.

+1. That image of him holding up the Bible for the cameras, without even reading from it, was ridiculous.

But if he had opened the Bible up, he wouldn't have known where to find an inspiring passage. Best to just wave it around, I guess.

Focus, people. We're talking about Trump's invasion of St. John's for a photo op. If you want to discuss divinity and resurrection, take it to the Religion forum.

Everyone cherry-picks what parts of the Old Testament they believe. No one believes all of it. Many evangelicals love the authoritarian damnation parts more than they love Jesus.

Denying the resurrection/divinity is a pretty big thing. It's one of the central tenets of the faith.

Matthew 22:36
Master, which is the great commandment in the law?

Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

This is the first and great commandment.

And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

True. And the Episcopal Church is now, has always been and always will be clear that they think Christ is divine. It's the central tenant of Christianity. The moment you let it go you're just not a Christian. Episcopalians are quite clear on this. If you claim not, you'll really have to convince me.

I find it amazing that the White House staff didn't think to *ask* to go to the Church, or *ask* the protestors to move.

You know, they might have done so peacefully.

You know, instead of gassing clergy members and the BLM medic station at the church.

What idiot thought this up?

Trump didn't ask to grab pussy, either. These are all takers and users. The evangelicals simply haven't learned, they/we are all the fodder.

There was no gassing. We don't believe you. There would have been video all over the place of people getting treated with water for tear gas in the eyes. You can stop with the lies.

Park Police statement:

https://www.nps.gov/subjects/uspp/6_2_20_statement_from_acting_chief_monahan.htm

The United States Park Police (USPP) is committed to the peaceful expression of First Amendment rights. However, this past weekend’s demonstrations at Lafayette Park and across the National Mall included activities that were not part of a peaceful protest, which resulted in injuries to USPP officers in the line of duty, the destruction of public property and the defacing of memorials and monuments. During four days of demonstrations, 51 members of the USPP were injured; of those, 11 were transported to the hospital and released and three were admitted.

Multiple agencies assisted the USPP in responding to and quelling the acts of destruction and violence over the course of the weekend in order to protect citizens and property.

On Monday, June 1, the USPP worked with the United States Secret Service to have temporary fencing installed inside Lafayette Park. At approximately 6:33 pm, violent protestors on H Street NW began throwing projectiles including bricks, frozen water bottles and caustic liquids. The protestors also climbed onto a historic building at the north end of Lafayette Park that was destroyed by arson days prior. Intelligence had revealed calls for violence against the police, and officers found caches of glass bottles, baseball bats and metal poles hidden along the street.

To curtail the violence that was underway, the USPP, following established policy, issued three warnings over a loudspeaker to alert demonstrators on H Street to evacuate the area. Horse mounted patrol, Civil Disturbance Units and additional personnel were used to clear the area. As many of the protestors became more combative, continued to throw projectiles, and attempted to grab officers’ weapons, officers then employed the use of smoke canisters and pepper balls. No tear gas was used by USPP officers or other assisting law enforcement partners to close the area at Lafayette Park. Subsequently, the fence was installed.

Throughout the demonstrations, the USPP has not made any arrests. The USPP will always support peaceful assembly but cannot tolerate violence to citizens or officers or damage to our nation’s resources that we are entrusted to protect.

They are liars.
Smoke canisters are used to conceal your own movements or location (such as when setting up equipment.) i.e., a "smoke screen."
If you're going to conduct a baton charge the last thing you want is smoke, because your personnel may run into each other. You want to see the target clearly.

They are liars. They used tear gas.
They teargassed a non-violent crowd in a public space so Trump could waddle over and have his photo taken in front of a closed church, holding a bible like he'd never seen one before.
