I don't like it when any pastors get political--and that includes the ones that support Trump and the ones that don't. They should stay out of politics.

Agree. That beautiful, historic church. Where's her outrage about that?

She's compassionate. That's the Christ-like response. Not "what about my stuff?"

My office on 9th street was vandalized last night. The CEO sent around an email this morning saying that minorities are suffering more from COVID (disease rate and job loss), the Minneapolis murder was appalling, and by the way (4th para), our glass front was broken but the night guard is safe and we should all be compassionate and understanding.

Just as clergy members don’t like it when politicians use churches and Bibles as props in political theater, while behaving in ways that are not compatible with Jesus’s teachings. Hence, her tweet.

Do they "like it" when violent rioters use churches as props for their graffiti and vandalism? Is that somehow ok with them? Do you think Jesus is bestowing his blessing upon these thugs? Where's the condemnation of, you know, THE ACTUAL CRIMINALS HERE??

Lol, faux intellectuals can't even come up with anything original.

You're just jealous that liberals can quote Sinclair Lewis while you Cons deal not in culture but in insults.

George Will quoted TS Eliot in a fantastic take-down of Trump. You should read it, if a literate read won't give you hives.

+10000. NOT a George Will fan. But man did he pick a great quote. Not with a bang but a whimper.

Wait... they had a "constitutional right" to vandalize and set fire to a church?

Wait did trump have a constitution right to deploy the military?

In DC, yes. In the states, not unless the governors authorize it (spoiler alert: nope).

Yes, indeed. Read. Educate yourself.

That was my first thought as soon as I heard Trump had used a Church and a Bible for a photo-op.

Thank you Bishop for saying it publicly.

Aww, that's so sweet. I bet all the business owners who, you know, actually rely on their businesses not being torched and smashed, would love to see the rioters rounded up and arrested. Apologists like you and your cohort on this thread are truly disgusting.

DP. Now you're attacking someone for typos? You don't like that pp pointed out that none of the people gassed tonight were vandalizing anything.

At least pp isn't president. Here's your candidate trying to string a few sentences together in front of the church:

A reporter asked him if it was his Bible and he said, “It's a Bible. We have a great country,” he said. “That's my thoughts. Greatest country in the world."

"That's my thoughts"? Really? And why are you holding a Bible if you're not going to talk about it?

It's disgusting to be Christ-like and compassionate? OK, you do you.

Anyway, they all have insurance.

Her reaction sounds much more like what Jesus's reaction would be than yours, that's for sure.
